Ryuusei Kenzaki

Kenryuu is kind, formal and deeply attentive to Rurichiyo’s welfare. Because his partner speaks rarely, Kenryuu usually explains their circumstances and negotiates with potential allies.

His loyalty makes him sensitive to criticism from his mistress. In dangerous situations, he prioritizes escape and Rurichiyo’s survival over proving himself in a direct fight.

Kenryuu is a trained Soul Reaper who carries Benishidare. Its Shikai produces masses of crimson flowers and pollen around a selected weapon or target.

The blossoms interfere with weapons and can render an opponent’s blade ineffective, making Benishidare useful for restraint and delay. No Bankai is shown.

Kenryuu and Enryuu take Rurichiyo to the Human World after learning that assassins are targeting her. They conceal the plot to avoid frightening her and recruit Ichigo’s group as additional protection.

Kenryuu later returns to Soul Society to rescue Rurichiyo from the Kasumiouji conspiracy. He survives the conflict and continues serving her after she resumes leadership of the clan.

Rurichiyo Kasumiouji is Kenryuu’s mistress and the person to whom he devotes his life. Enryuu is his fellow bodyguard and quieter partner.

Ichigo Kurosaki initially irritates Kenryuu by speaking casually to the princess but becomes a trusted ally. Jinnai Douko and Shuusuke Amagai are opponents whom Kenryuu delays with Benishidare.
