Nouma

Nouma is cruel, sadistic and enthusiastic about hunting humans. She treats the children at Goldy Pond as game and enjoys prolonging a pursuit rather than simply killing prey immediately.

Her confidence comes partly from the enormous physical advantage demons possess over humans. Even when the Goldy Pond children begin behaving unusually during a hunt, she and Nous initially treat their resistance as another entertaining variation on their usual game.

Nouma nevertheless has a genuine emotional bond with her brother. Their relationship is considerably warmer than their treatment of humans suggests, and the pair normally hunt together rather than operating independently.

Nouma possesses the enhanced strength, speed, senses and regenerative abilities characteristic of humanoid demons. She is physically capable of overpowering human children with ease and carries a large spear during hunts.

Her mask protects her central eye, the vital organ that must be destroyed to reliably kill a demon. This protection means the Goldy Pond Resistance cannot simply shoot her at range; they must first create an opportunity to remove or damage the mask.

Nouma also has the heightened sense of smell used by demons to track human prey through Goldy Pond.

Nouma joins the group assembled around Bayon, hunting alongside Nous, Leuvis and Luce in the illegal reserve. Her appearance establishes the variety of powerful demons the Goldy Pond Resistance must eliminate simultaneously.

During the children's uprising, Sonya and Sandy lure Nouma and Nous into a prepared engagement while Violet and Paula provide additional fire. Their coordinated gunfire removes the demons' masks, and Paula shoots Nouma through her vital eye.

Nouma's death drives Nous into a furious emotional state. He consumes her body, absorbing her physical characteristics and memories, and continues attacking the children before Yugo intervenes.

Nous is Nouma's brother and regular hunting partner. The two are extremely close, and her death sends Nous into a violent rage before he consumes her body and inherits aspects of her physical form and memories.

Bayon is the owner of Goldy Pond and the noble responsible for the hunting reserve in which Nouma participates.

Leuvis is a fellow Poacher who joins Nouma and the other nobles in hunting children at Goldy Pond.

Luce is another member of the Poachers.

Sonya, Sandy, Violet and Paula form the resistance team that confronts Nouma and Nous during the Goldy Pond uprising.
