Naohito Sakuragi

Naohito is responsible, irritable and quick to object when other council members neglect their duties. He values order and reacts poorly to the improvisational chaos generated by Kakeru Manabe and Kimi Toudou.

His seriousness also makes him easy to tease. Kakeru deliberately provokes him with nicknames and jokes, while Naohito responds with increasingly visible frustration.

Behind his hostility toward Yuki is adolescent insecurity rather than genuine hatred. He admires Motoko and resents the effortless importance Yuki holds in her thoughts.

Naohito has no supernatural abilities. His strengths are organizational and academic, fitting his role as student council secretary.

He takes council responsibilities seriously and attempts to keep meetings focused despite the personalities surrounding him. This often makes him the member most visibly concerned with what the student council is actually supposed to accomplish.

Naohito enters through Yuki's student-council storyline, where his conventional seriousness provides another personality Yuki must learn to work alongside. The council becomes an important social space in which Yuki can form relationships outside the Souma household.

Naohito's rivalry also undercuts Yuki's "Prince" image from another angle. Where many students worship Yuki, Naohito has a personal reason to find his popularity irritating and treats him accordingly.

Yuki Souma is Naohito's student-council president and self-declared rival. Naohito's jealousy toward Yuki Souma is tied largely to Motoko's devotion to him.

Motoko Minagawa is the girl Naohito likes, though his feelings are not reciprocated in the way he hopes.

Kakeru Manabe is Naohito's fellow council member and a frequent source of irritation because of his teasing and unserious behavior.

Machi Kuragi and Kimi Toudou serve alongside Naohito on Yuki's student council.
