Personality
Personality
Motoko is romantic, dramatic and intensely possessive about Yuki. She can organize other girls confidently when he is absent, yet becomes shy, nervous and awkward when she actually has an opportunity to speak with him.
She writes love poetry and builds an elaborate ideal around Yuki, but she also follows fan-club rules intended to stop any member from monopolizing him. This creates an obvious contradiction: Motoko desperately wants Yuki's attention while participating in a system designed to prevent anyone, including herself, from getting close.
Her jealousy is not entirely static. Motoko gradually becomes capable of recognizing that Yuki's happiness matters more than her fantasy of being the person who gives it to him.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Motoko has no supernatural abilities. Her main influence comes from leading the large Prince Yuki Fan Club and coordinating its members' activities.
She is persistent and capable of organizing elaborate schemes. One such plan takes her and other club members to Hanajima's home in search of a weakness they can exploit against Tooru's closest defender.
Motoko also writes poetry inspired by her feelings for Yuki, although these compositions are presented primarily as expressions of her exaggerated romantic devotion.
Story Role
Story Role
Motoko initially appears as one of the most visible examples of Yuki's unwanted idolization at school. Her fan club treats him as a distant ideal and aggressively monitors girls around him, illustrating why popularity does not provide the ordinary companionship he wants.
She receives greater focus as graduation approaches. Away from the collective behavior of the fan club, Motoko must consider what her feelings for Yuki actually mean and what she wants to say before leaving school.
Motoko eventually confesses that she loves Yuki while acknowledging that she does not expect him to return those feelings. She is able to leave school wishing sincerely for his future happiness rather than trying to possess him.
Relationships
Relationships
Yuki Souma is Motoko's longstanding crush and the center of her school life. [Her eventual confession to Yuki Souma becomes less an attempt to win him than an honest farewell.](#spoiler)
Minami Kinoshita is Motoko's vice president and one of her closest collaborators in the Prince Yuki Fan Club.
Tooru Honda is initially treated as a dangerous rival because of her closeness to Yuki. Motoko eventually recognizes that Tooru has helped Yuki become happier and more emotionally open.
Saki Hanajima becomes a target when Motoko's group searches for a way around Tooru's formidable friend, but the investigation leaves the fan-club members thoroughly intimidated.
Megumi Hanajima encounters Motoko and the others during their visit to the Hanajima home and calmly exposes the disrespect inherent in their behavior toward Yuki.
