Personality
Personality
Nagi is gentle, patient and idealistic despite living inside G Ward. He values companionship and treats Scar Chain as people working toward freedom together rather than subordinates serving him.
His calmness masks intense grief. Nagi clings to the belief that his child waits outside Deadman Wonderland, and the hope of finally meeting that child gives his plans for escape deeply personal importance.
When that hope is threatened, Nagi's normally controlled personality can collapse into extreme anger. Karako Koshio understands this vulnerability and works hard to protect the part of him that still believes in a future beyond the prison.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Owl's Eyeball allows Nagi to create floating spheres from his blood. He can control their position and detonate them remotely, producing powerful explosions at selected points.
The ability gives him excellent control over an area because the spheres can be positioned before detonation rather than fired along a fixed trajectory. He can use multiple blood spheres to threaten several enemies or create explosions around a larger target.
Nagi is also an experienced Deadman combatant. His leadership of Scar Chain comes from both personal authority and his ability to protect other members when escape operations become violent.
Story Role
Story Role
Nagi leads Scar Chain's plan to escape G Ward carrying evidence that can reveal Deadman Wonderland's hidden treatment of Deadmen. Ganta joins the group after learning more about the prison's secret operations.
His personal history is intertwined with the Carnival Corpse system. Nagi and his pregnant lover were forced to fight each other; he deliberately lost, after which his vocal cords were removed. Genkaku later killed his lover and unborn child, while prison staff deceived Nagi into believing his child survived outside the prison.
During the escape attempt, Genkaku Azuma deliberately targets Nagi's remaining hope. Learning the truth about his family drives Nagi into a violent breakdown, and he ultimately helps Ganta defeat Genkaku before succumbing to the damage inflicted during the confrontation.
