Personality
Personality
Karako is tough, direct and protective. She initially tests Ganta through combat rather than conversation, reflecting a life in G Ward where someone's ability to survive matters immediately.
Her harder exterior coexists with considerable compassion. Her background as a nurse remains visible in the way she cares for injured companions and tries to hold Scar Chain together during crises.
Karako's devotion to Nagi is central to her decisions. She recognizes that some of the hope sustaining him may be fragile, but chooses to support that hope rather than strip it away.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Fists of Blood coats Karako's body in hardened blood, reinforcing her skin and muscles. The technique increases the power of her strikes and gives her additional protection against attacks.
She combines the Branch with martial arts, particularly close-range techniques, making her a dangerous hand-to-hand fighter.
Karako can also use the blood coating to help close wounds, applying her Branch defensively rather than only as armor or an offensive enhancement.
Story Role
Story Role
Karako tests Ganta before bringing him into contact with Scar Chain. Alongside Nagi, she explains the group's objective: escape G Ward with evidence capable of exposing Deadman Wonderland's treatment of prisoners.
She takes a major role in organizing and protecting the escapees when the operation begins. The Undertakers and Rokuro's interference devastate the original plan.
After surviving the escape, Karako succeeds in helping expose Deadman Wonderland's secrets to the outside world. She later participates in gathering the surviving Deadmen for another operation involving the closed prison.
Relationships
Relationships
Nagi Kengamine is Karako's leader and the person she loves. She knows that the photograph Nagi believes shows his child is actually absent from his locket, but she supports his hope rather than confronting him with that reality.
Ganta Igarashi is initially tested by Karako before becoming one of Scar Chain's allies.
Minatsuki Takami receives Scar Chain's protection when the resistance intervenes in her penalty game.
Bundō Rokuro serves with Karako in Scar Chain. His betrayal helps destroy the group's escape plan.
Kiwako Flügel Makina later becomes an ally as their separate efforts against Deadman Wonderland's secret leadership converge.
