Mei-Ling

Mei-Ling is gentle, frightened by her own ability and deeply attached to her village. Her visions do not feel like a gift once they begin showing violence and suffering, leading her to reject the crystal ball rather than continue seeing a future she fears.

Lenalee Lee's encouragement helps Mei-Ling reconsider that fear. Instead of promising that becoming an Exorcist will be safe, Lenalee gives her the freedom to decide whether she wants the responsibility.

Once Mei-Ling chooses to help, she becomes more determined and uses her visions despite the exhaustion they cause.

Mei-Ling's Innocence resides in a crystal ball and grants precognition. When synchronized with it, she can see future events, including approaching attacks and dangers that have not yet occurred.

The visions can provide valuable tactical information, but using them consumes Mei-Ling's energy and can leave her physically exhausted.

When she rejects the crystal ball and throws it into the lake, the Innocence reacts violently, draining the surrounding water and generating a powerful barrier. Reconciliation with Mei-Ling restores control over the phenomenon.

Allen Walker, Lenalee Lee, Lavi, Bookman and Arystar Krory III reach Mei-Ling's village while travelling through China and investigate its unexplained drought.

They discover that the discarded crystal ball is Innocence and that Mei-Ling is its Accommodator. After Lenalee helps her accept the choice before her, Mei-Ling decides that she wants to become an Exorcist and use her visions to protect people.

Lulu Bell targets the crystal ball before Mei-Ling can reach the Black Order. After a series of attacks, the Innocence is taken and destroyed, ending Mei-Ling's opportunity to become an Exorcist and allowing her instead to remain in her village.

Lenalee Lee becomes Mei-Ling's strongest source of encouragement. Lenalee helps her understand what being an Accommodator means without forcing her to accept the role.

Allen Walker helps protect Mei-Ling and her Innocence from the Akuma pursuing her.

Lulu Bell targets Mei-Ling because of the Innocence in her crystal ball. Her successful attack ultimately prevents Mei-Ling from joining the Black Order as an Exorcist.

Mimi serves Lulu Bell during the attempts to seize Mei-Ling's Innocence.

Mei-Ling's grandfather is her guardian and initially supports her decision to abandon the crystal ball because of the distress her visions have caused.
