Lucius

Lucius is calm, patient, calculating, and convinced that his objective represents salvation rather than tyranny. He does not regard himself as a conventional destroyer and frames his actions as a means of eliminating human suffering permanently.

His benevolent language conceals an absolute disregard for consent. People who disagree with his ideal future are problems to be corrected, transformed, or removed, because Lucius believes his own foresight gives him the authority to determine humanity's proper form.

Unlike Dante's fascination with malice or Vanica's love of battle, Lucius values order and predictability. Unforeseen behavior therefore interests and frustrates him more than simple resistance.

Lucius's natural attribute is Soul Magic. By touching a person, he can manipulate their soul and thereby alter aspects of their body, mind, or magical potential.

He can transform humans into Paladins, purified warriors whose souls are altered and who can host purified devil power. These transformations can grant additional magical attributes while enforcing loyalty to Lucius's vision.

Lucius is also the host of Astaroth, the devil associated with Time Magic. Through Astaroth's power he can accelerate, stop, reverse, and perceive time, as well as examine enormous numbers of possible futures.

After acquiring Lucifero's heart, Lucius gains access to tremendous additional power and can incorporate devil attributes into his own arsenal. He later creates multiple copies of himself using Soul, Body, Blood, and Bone Magic derived from the Zogratis siblings' attributes.

His combination of Soul Magic, Time Magic, devil power, and future sight places him above almost every individual opponent in the series.

Lucius enters the story directly only after the Spade Kingdom conflict, but his influence reaches backward through many of the events surrounding devils and the Zogratis family.

Lucius shares a body with Julius Novachrono. Using Soul Magic, he creates or maintains Julius as a separate soul within the same body and spends years hidden while Julius rises to become Wizard King.

Lucius contracts Astaroth and uses Time Magic to observe possible futures. He helps arrange devil contracts for Dante, Vanica, and Zenon while waiting for events in the Clover Kingdom and Spade Kingdom to produce the conditions he needs.

After the defeat of Lucifero, Lucius takes control of their shared body, confronts Damnatio, and later reveals himself to Asta. He explains his plan to destroy and reconstruct humanity as immortal Paladins ruled by himself as the final Wizard King.

His campaign leads to Judgment Day, when Paladins and transformed forces attack the Clover Kingdom. Asta and Yuno become the two central variables his future predictions repeatedly fail to control completely.

Julius Novachrono shares Lucius's body as a separate soul. Julius is unaware for most of his life that Lucius exists within him and attempts to resist when Lucius finally takes control.

Dante Zogratis, Vanica Zogratis, and Zenon Zogratis are Lucius's younger siblings. Their devil contracts and magical attributes become part of the larger future Lucius has planned.

Astaroth is the supreme devil associated with Time Magic whose power Lucius acquires.

Lucifero is defeated during the Spade Kingdom conflict, after which Adrammelech brings Lucifero's heart to Lucius. Lucius later incorporates that power into himself.

Adrammelech initially cooperates with Lucius but later chooses to assist Yami because a perfectly predetermined Lucius victory no longer interests the devil.

Asta is the anomaly Lucius has the greatest difficulty accounting for because Anti Magic lies outside conventional magical expectations.

Yuno becomes another central obstacle whose growth repeatedly surpasses futures Lucius considers manageable.

Lily Aquaria, Morgen Faust, Acier Silva, Damnatio Kira, and Moris Libardirt are among the people Lucius transforms or resurrects as Paladins to serve his remade world.
