Morgen Faust

Morgen is cheerful, polite, compassionate, and strongly motivated by helping other people. He joins the Magic Knights because he genuinely wants to protect the Clover Kingdom rather than seeking prestige.

His temperament is deliberately contrasted with Nacht's. Where the young Nacht is selfish, reckless, and fascinated by forbidden activities, Morgen behaves responsibly and remains liked by the people around him.

Morgen does not give up on his brother despite their differences. He believes Nacht can become someone who protects others and dreams about the twins eventually serving the kingdom together.

His friendship also affects Yami. Morgen treats the foreign teenager without prejudice and believes that Yami can become a Magic Knight captain long before Yami sees that future for himself.

Morgen naturally uses Light Magic, allowing him to generate and manipulate light. His spells emphasize extraordinary speed and concentrated offensive beams.

As a nobleman and Grey Deer Magic Knight, he possesses substantial mana even during his teenage years. His exact original combat repertoire receives less attention than his influence on Nacht and Yami.

After Lucius resurrects him as a Paladin and incarnates Lucifugus within him, Morgen gains enormous additional magical power and artificial Dark Magic. The combination of Light and Dark Magic lets him attack with opposing attributes simultaneously, creating an especially dangerous matchup for Yami.

Morgen joins the Grey Deer at fifteen and becomes acquainted with Yami while Julius Novachrono still commands the squad.

He eventually discovers that House Faust has been secretly practicing Forbidden Magic and forming contracts with devils. Rather than immediately exposing his family, Morgen attempts to persuade Nacht to stop participating.

Nacht ignores the warning and summons Lucifugus. The devil's appearance kills the Faust family, and Morgen enters the ritual circle to break the relic maintaining the contract. He successfully sends Lucifugus back to the underworld but is mortally wounded, dying in Nacht's arms after expressing his dream that the brothers could have protected people together as Magic Knights.

Morgen's death becomes the event that fundamentally changes Nacht. The formerly selfish twin adopts Morgen's desire to destroy evil and eventually becomes the Black Bulls' vice-captain.

During Judgment Day, Lucius resurrects Morgen as a Paladin and makes him host to the purified Lucifugus. He confronts Yami and later Nacht, forcing both men to fight someone whose memory shaped their lives.

Nacht Faust is Morgen's older twin brother. Morgen loves him despite his delinquent behavior and sacrifices himself to stop Nacht's disastrous contract with Lucifugus. His death becomes the foundation of Nacht's later moral transformation.

Yami Sukehiro is Morgen's friend and fellow Grey Deer member. Morgen's optimism helps shape Yami's own path toward becoming a captain.

Julius Novachrono is Morgen's captain in the Grey Deer and oversees the squad during his Magic Knight career.

Lucifugus is the highest-ranking devil Nacht attempts to summon. Morgen breaks the ritual binding and later becomes Lucifugus's purified host after being resurrected as a Paladin.

Lucius Zogratis resurrects Morgen and converts him into a Paladin for Judgment Day.
