Moris Libardirt

Moris is obsessively curious, ruthless, ambitious, and almost completely unconcerned with the suffering created by his experiments. He views people as research material and considers magical advancement sufficient justification for mutilation, psychological trauma, or death.

He is also opportunistic rather than patriotic. Moris secretly manipulates the Diamond Kingdom's monarch while claiming to serve the country, then changes allegiances when remaining in Diamond no longer benefits his research.

What he values most is the ability to study phenomena that exceed accepted magical limitations. Friendship, loyalty, and individual dignity have little meaning to him compared with obtaining new information.

Moris uses Modification Magic, which alters the structure of physical and magical objects. He can restructure grimoires, stitch portions of different grimoires together, modify bodies, and create artificial magical abilities.

His experiments allow Mars to use both Crystal and Fire Magic by combining portions of his grimoire with Fana's, while Ladros is reconstructed to absorb and release magical energy.

After receiving Lucifero's power, Moris's Modification Magic becomes capable of altering intangible concepts. He extracts the inherited knowledge of the Heart Kingdom's queens from Lolopechka and uses it to accelerate the Tree of Qliphoth ritual.

As a Paladin, Moris receives artificial Earth Magic in addition to his enhanced Modification Magic, and his reconstructed body can generate numerous arms capable of rapidly disassembling both people and magic.

Moris operates for years behind the Diamond Kingdom's military program. His experiments on children and soldiers create enhanced mages, including Mars, Fana, and Ladros, while his political influence turns the king into a puppet.

Mars eventually removes Moris from power and expels him from the Diamond Kingdom. Moris then joins the Spade Kingdom and works with the Dark Triad, using his knowledge to assist the Tree of Qliphoth ritual.

He extracts information from Lolopechka, modifies the ritual so it can proceed faster, and eventually removes the Dark Triad's necessity for maintaining it.

Lucifero uses Moris as a host and conduit during the ritual. The Black Bulls eventually overwhelm Moris, after which Lucifero consumes his remaining power to accelerate the opening of the underworld.

Lucius later reconstructs Moris and converts him into a Paladin for Judgment Day. Moris receives a new body and Earth Magic, bringing his research into direct conflict with Mereoleona and the Crimson Lions.

Mars is one of Moris's principal experimental subjects. Moris surgically alters his body and grimoire before Mars later helps drive him out of the Diamond Kingdom.

Fana is another child subjected to Moris's experiments and has portions of her grimoire exchanged with Mars's.

Ladros is modified by Moris to absorb, store, and release large amounts of mana.

Lotus Whomalt serves alongside Moris in Diamond and later Spade but eventually turns against him after seeing the extent of his cruelty.

Lucifero uses Moris as a devil host and enhances Modification Magic enough to affect concepts.

Lolopechka has centuries of inherited royal knowledge extracted and copied by Moris.

Lucius Zogratis reconstructs Moris after the Spade conflict and later transforms him into a Paladin.

Mereoleona Vermillion becomes Moris's principal opponent during Judgment Day.
