Kenji

Kenji is outgoing, cheerful and highly sociable. Like the other residents of the share house, he readily participates in parties and group activities, displaying remarkably little concern about living in a city infamous for its constant murders.

The group's enthusiasm initially overwhelms Makoto Hanzawa, whose financial worries and secret criminal ambitions make him considerably less carefree. Kenji nevertheless treats his new housemate as part of the group rather than excluding him.

Kenji is an ordinary civilian with no established supernatural abilities, detective training or specialized combat skills. His appearances are primarily comedic and focus on everyday life in Beika.

He participates in the share-house residents' social activities and also appears in situations involving part-time employment. The spin-off does not establish a specialized profession or individual skill set significant enough to distinguish him as an action-oriented character.

Kenji becomes part of Makoto Hanzawa's social circle after Hanzawa moves into a Beika share house. The residents' constant parties surprise Hanzawa, particularly because his limited finances make frequent social spending difficult.

He continues appearing with the group as Hanzawa searches for work and encounters increasingly absurd aspects of life in Beika. Kenji and the other residents provide Hanzawa with an ordinary peer group despite his repeated insistence that he came to the city to commit murder.

His role remains primarily comedic rather than investigative. Through Kenji and his housemates, the spin-off shows residents who have adapted so thoroughly to Beika's dangerous reputation that even the possibility of sudden death has become part of their justification for partying.

Makoto Hanzawa is Kenji's housemate. Kenji readily includes him in the group's activities even though Makoto Hanzawa is frequently anxious about the financial cost of keeping up with them.

Nana, Anna, Rika, Rikio, Yuika and Shouta belong to the same wider group of share-house residents and party-loving friends.
