Kei Munakata

Munakata is quiet, composed and generally expressionless. Beneath that restraint is a continuous desire to kill. He does not need hatred or anger to justify the impulse; virtually any reason can become sufficient, which makes his awareness that killing is morally wrong especially important.

Rather than surrendering to the impulse, Munakata builds his life around preventing it from controlling him. His vast collection of weapons helps keep people physically distant, reducing the risk of intimate contact while giving him an outlet through combat.

That strategy leaves him lonely. Munakata's involvement with the Flask Plan is partly motivated by a desire to find people he can interact with despite his condition, and genuine friendship becomes unusually important to him once he experiences it.

Killing Impulse is Munakata's Abnormality, producing a constant urge to kill other people. It does not itself grant straightforward superhuman strength; the danger comes from how Munakata adapts his entire fighting style around it.

He carries a remarkable quantity of concealed weapons, including knives, swords, firearms, explosives, blunt weapons and even larger armaments that appear impossible to hide normally. Maguro Kurokami teaches him hidden-weapon techniques after he enters the Flask Plan, despite Munakata initially showing little natural aptitude for weapon handling.

Munakata compensates through preparation, deception and sheer variety. Later, he acquires the Style Massacre, expanding his capabilities beyond his original Abnormality and weapon-based combat.

Munakata is introduced as one of the Thirteen Party members defending the Flask Plan's underground facility. His major confrontation pits him against Zenkichi Hitoyoshi, whose determination to approach him directly undermines the isolation on which Munakata has built his life.

Their battle reveals that Munakata's threatening behavior is not simply bloodlust. He has spent years trying not to kill anyone, and his arsenal is part of an elaborate strategy for living around other people without allowing his impulse to dictate his actions.

After losing to Zenkichi, Munakata considers him his first genuine friend. He later joins the Loser Team to support Zenkichi during the conflict with Class -13 and remains involved in several subsequent battles.

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi becomes the most important friendship Munakata forms at Hakoniwa. After their fight, Munakata considers Zenkichi his first true friend and repeatedly acts to support him.

Maguro Kurokami teaches Munakata how to use hidden weapons during his time in the Flask Plan.

Youka Naze considers Munakata the Abnormal closest in temperament to a Minus, although others disagree with that assessment.

Misogi Kumagawa becomes an opponent Munakata is prepared to confront for Zenkichi's sake.

Koi Munakata is Munakata's younger sister.

Kouki Akune later becomes Munakata's brother-in-law through his marriage to Koi.
