Kazunari Fukatsu

Fukatsu is composed, analytical and rarely emotional on the court. He leads without theatrics, trusting Sannoh's preparation and responding to changing situations with measured decisions.

His most conspicuous personal quirk is his habit of attaching unusual sounds to the ends of his sentences. The behavior contrasts sharply with his otherwise serious appearance and elite reputation.

As captain, Fukatsu understands that Sannoh's roster does not require him to dominate every possession. He prioritizes control and places the ball where teammates can exploit favorable matchups.

Fukatsu is one of Japan's premier high-school point guards. He combines accurate passing, strong ball security, intelligent pace control and physical defense with the experience required to manage a championship roster.

His size and strength create problems for smaller point guards. Against Ryota Miyagi, Fukatsu can use his physical advantage while still matching the tactical demands of the position.

He is also a capable scorer. Defenders cannot simply abandon him to concentrate on Sannoh's stars, and his ability to punish openings makes the offense difficult to overload against any single player.

Fukatsu is particularly valued in momentum swings. Shinichi Maki identifies him as the sort of player who produces important plays precisely when an opponent begins believing it can win.

Fukatsu leads Sannoh into its national-tournament meeting with Shohoku as the captain of the team everyone expects to win. His presence gives Sannoh stability while Domoto deploys different combinations and defensive schemes.

During Sannoh's devastating full-court press, Fukatsu helps apply pressure to Miyagi and disrupt Shohoku's ability to advance the ball. The champions' organized aggression rapidly changes the score and demonstrates why they have dominated nationally.

As Shohoku recovers, Fukatsu remains composed and continues searching for the correct matchup rather than panicking. Sannoh nevertheless loses in the final seconds, ending its championship run.

Ryota Miyagi is Fukatsu's direct point-guard opponent against Shohoku. Fukatsu holds the physical advantage, while Miyagi must rely on exceptional speed and creativity.

Eiji Sawakita is Sannoh's ace and one of the principal scoring weapons Fukatsu orchestrates.

Masashi Kawata is another senior star and gives Fukatsu an exceptionally versatile interior target.

Goro Domoto is Fukatsu's coach and entrusts him with leading Sannoh on the floor.

Shinichi Maki knows Fukatsu's reputation well and specifically respects his ability to make timely plays when opponents gain momentum.
