Minatsuki Takami

Minatsuki is manipulative, sadistic and exceptionally skilled at presenting herself as harmless. Her timid persona is calculated to lower other people's guard, while her actual behavior is aggressive and frequently cruel.

Her personality was profoundly affected by the Great Tokyo Earthquake and her mother's abandonment. Minatsuki learned to treat trust as something to exploit and began lying compulsively, including to the brother who devoted himself to protecting her.

She is not incapable of attachment. Her relationship with Yō remains deeply dysfunctional, but later experiences gradually make her less determined to reject everyone around her.

Whip Wing forms long tendrils from Minatsuki's blood, which she draws from her ears. The whips move rapidly and can strike, bind or restrain opponents from a considerable distance.

She can control several tendrils at once, allowing her to attack from multiple directions and manipulate an opponent's movement. The speed of the blood whips makes closing the distance against her particularly difficult.

Like other Deadmen, extensive use of her Branch costs blood and therefore cannot continue indefinitely without physical consequences.

Minatsuki meets Ganta before their scheduled Carnival Corpse match and convinces him that she is a frightened girl forced into fighting. Once the match begins, she drops the persona and reveals that she deliberately manipulated his sympathy so she could attack him more easily.

Her history with Yō becomes central to understanding her behavior. Minatsuki manipulated Yō into believing their father abused her and allowed him to blame himself for their father's death, even though Minatsuki herself killed him with Whip Wing.

After her confrontation with Ganta, Minatsuki remains part of the wider Deadman group. Her relationships with both Ganta and Yō gradually improve, although she retains her abrasive temperament and frequently lashes out at them.

You Takami is Minatsuki's older brother and remains fiercely devoted to her. Minatsuki repeatedly manipulated him and allowed him to believe he had killed their father, but the siblings gradually rebuild a more genuine relationship.

Ganta Igarashi is Minatsuki's Carnival Corpse opponent. She initially deceives him with a false personality, but their hostility eventually develops into an abrasive friendship.

Karako Koshio and the members of Scar Chain intervene to protect Minatsuki from one of Deadman Wonderland's penalty procedures.

Nagi Kengamine uses Scar Chain's intervention on Minatsuki's behalf as an example of what his resistance is trying to accomplish.
