Personality
Personality
Jinpuu is knowledgeable, serious and strongly committed to the traditions of the wind school. He recognizes the danger posed by disturbances that initially appear to ordinary people as unrelated accidents and treats the old conflict between the two feng shui schools as an urgent responsibility.
He readily works with Kenshin's group despite their lack of specialist knowledge. His willingness to explain formations, dragon veins and the history behind the conflict makes him the group's guide through phenomena that cannot be solved by swordsmanship alone.
Jinpuu also shows considerable persistence. Even when faced with a rival whose command of feng shui exceeds his own in direct confrontation, he continues searching for ways to restore the protective arrangement surrounding Tokyo.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Jinpuu practices wind-school feng shui and can recognize spiritual formations, dragon veins and the interaction between terrain and deliberately placed objects. He understands the Eigou formation originally constructed to protect the region and identifies how the opposing water school is attempting to dismantle it.
His techniques can be used offensively and defensively against other feng shui practitioners. He can counter attacks generated through the opposing school and manipulate the flow of spiritual energy through properly arranged locations and artifacts.
Jinpuu's greatest strength is specialized knowledge rather than physical combat. He guides Kenshin through locations affected by feng shui, identifies materials needed to counter the water clan and ultimately works to redirect the dangerous dragon vein.
Story Role
Story Role
Jinpuu appears after a series of unusual disasters begins striking Tokyo. He rescues Kenshin's group from feng shui attackers and explains that an old struggle between the wind and water clans has resurfaced.
The water school works to destroy the protective Eigou formation by targeting five crucial locations. When Kaoru Kamiya is badly injured by Reisui's attack, Jinpuu explains that special spring water from Musashino can heal her and accompanies Kenshin to retrieve it.
Jinpuu later travels with Kenshin toward Nikkou and Senjougahara as the dragon vein changes course. Although Reisui initially proves stronger in direct feng shui combat, Jinpuu survives the confrontation and ultimately uses the jade crest to redirect the dragon vein toward the shrine, where the prepared formation neutralizes its destructive force.
