Reisui

Reisui is calculating, deceptive and confident in the superiority of his school. Rather than simply attacking his opponents, he manipulates circumstances so that the Water clan can profit from the fear and confusion produced by its own supernatural disturbances.

He enjoys psychological attacks as much as direct confrontation. Against Kenshin, he uses spiritual techniques that exploit painful memories rather than relying solely on physical force. His confidence grows from his extensive understanding of feng shui and his ability to influence phenomena that conventional fighters cannot simply cut down with a sword.

Reisui is also persistent. Even after Kenshin's group begins understanding the Water clan's plan, he continues altering formations and exploiting the dragon vein in an attempt to bring the scheme to completion.

Reisui is a master of Water-school feng shui. He can manipulate spiritual energy through carefully arranged formations, talismans and geographical points, producing effects that appear supernatural even by the standards of Kenshin's world.

His techniques include creating illusions and attacking an opponent's consciousness. When he confronts Kenshin Himura, he forces Kenshin into visions connected to his violent Bakumatsu past. He can also direct offensive spiritual phenomena against opponents at a distance.

Reisui carries poisoned kunai and is capable of using conventional weapons alongside feng shui. One such attack poisons Kaoru Kamiya, requiring Kenshin and Jinpuu to seek special spring water to counter its effects.

He also understands the dragon vein, the Eigou protective formation and the jade crest connected to controlling the enormous flow of ki beneath the region.

Reisui first appears as Tokyo begins experiencing strange accidents. After disasters occur, he publicly presents himself as a Water feng shui expert, while Saeki offers commercial solutions. The pattern conceals their role in deliberately undermining the old spiritual protections surrounding the city.

Jinpuu reveals that the conflict is connected to the historical rivalry between the Wind and Water schools. Reisui's faction targets important points in the protective pentagram and releases increasingly dangerous spiritual forces.

Reisui poisons Kaoru during an attack on the Kamiya Dojo, leading Kenshin and Jinpuu to search for healing spring water. He later obtains the jade crest before them and uses illusions when they pursue him toward Nikkou and Senjougahara.

The Water clan ultimately attempts to exploit the dragon vein on a massive scale. Kenshin and Jinpuu oppose Reisui's plan, and the destructive flow of spiritual energy is redirected and neutralized through the restored formation. Reisui's scheme consequently collapses.

Jinpuu is Reisui's principal spiritual rival. Their battle continues the historical conflict between the Water and Wind schools of feng shui.

Saeki Yunoshin works with Reisui in the plan surrounding Tokyo's spiritual formations and uses the resulting disturbances for his own objectives.

Kenshin Himura becomes one of Reisui's primary opponents after the Water clan attacks the Kamiya Dojo. Reisui attempts to defeat him psychologically through visions of his violent past.

Kaoru Kamiya is poisoned by Reisui's kunai during his attack on the dojo.

Sanosuke Sagara and Katsuhiro Tsukioka investigate the Water clan's activities and help uncover information needed to counter Reisui's plan.
