Personality
Personality
Ithnan is serious, direct and remarkably calm. He speaks with confidence even when surrounded by enemies and rarely appears intimidated by dangerous situations. That confidence can become arrogance, particularly when he believes Al-Thamen has already maneuvered an opponent into the despair necessary for their plans.
He is adept at exploiting emotional vulnerability. Rather than relying exclusively on combat, Ithnan encourages people to reject their circumstances and curse their fate, knowing that such despair can turn their Rukh black. His interactions with Dunya Musta'sim demonstrate how effectively Al-Thamen can weaponize a person's grief and resentment.
Ithnan was once very different from the enemy Aladdin encounters. In Alma Torran, he was a loyal member of Solomon's resistance and shared a particularly close bond with his adoptive brother Setta. Setta's death contributed to Ithnan's rejection of Solomon's new system of fate, as Ithnan could not accept a world in which his brother's struggle and death could simply be explained as predetermined destiny.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Ithnan is a highly accomplished magician whose primary elemental specialty is lightning magic. He can generate powerful electrical attacks through his wand and protect himself with a Borg, the defensive barrier used by skilled magicians to repel hostile physical and magical attacks.
He is also a proficient user of Black Rukh. Ithnan can employ curse magic capable of entering another person's body and feeding upon their Magoi, and he can manipulate the effects of depravity as part of Al-Thamen's attempts to corrupt individuals. His unusual physiology and magic make destroying one of his manifested bodies insufficient by itself to guarantee his defeat.
Ithnan is closely associated with the development and use of Dark Metal Vessels. These corrupted counterparts to ordinary Metal Vessels draw upon Black Rukh and can transform their users into Dark Djinn. His knowledge of this technology makes him more than a battlefield magician; he is one of the figures through whom Al-Thamen spreads its power to selected agents.
In Alma Torran, Ithnan wielded one of the 72 Divine Staves and fought as an elite member of Solomon's resistance. The staves granted their wielders immense magical capabilities before Solomon's restructuring of the world's Rukh rendered them obsolete. Ithnan's magical expertise therefore predates Al-Thamen and extends back to the old civilization of Alma Torran.
Story Role
Story Role
Ithnan initially operates as a mysterious member of Al-Thamen, an organization working behind political conflicts and disasters across the world. He becomes involved with Dunya Musta'sim and provides her with a Dark Metal Vessel, turning her hatred over the destruction of Musta'sim into a weapon against Al-Thamen's enemies.
During the Zagan conflict, Ithnan intervenes against Aladdin, Alibaba Saluja and Hakuryuu Ren. His presence helps expose the connection between apparently separate incidents and the larger organization manipulating events from the shadows.
After his manifested body is defeated, a fragment of Ithnan enters Alibaba and places a curse within him. Ithnan attempts to consume Alibaba's Magoi while encouraging him to fall into depravity, using his resentment and emotional wounds against him. Alibaba resists the corruption, while Aladdin's intervention helps separate Ithnan's influence from him.
Ithnan subsequently confronts Sinbad and reveals more about Al-Thamen's objectives. Sinbad deliberately allows Black Rukh to enter him before using his own power to resist its influence, and Ithnan's remaining manifestation is ultimately destroyed.
Much later, Aladdin's account of Alma Torran reveals Ithnan's original life. He fought beside Solomon against the Orthodox government and wielded one of the Divine Staves. After Setta was killed and Solomon replaced Ill Ilah's system of destiny with his own Rukh, Ithnan rejected the new order and joined the rebellion that developed into Al-Thamen.
Relationships
Relationships
Dunya Musta'sim is one of the people Ithnan recruits and supports for Al-Thamen. He provides her with a Dark Metal Vessel and encourages the hatred born from the destruction of her homeland, turning her desire for revenge into a source of Black Rukh.
Alibaba Saluja becomes one of Ithnan's principal targets during the Zagan conflict. After his physical manifestation is defeated, Ithnan enters Alibaba's body and attempts to corrupt him by exploiting his resentment and consuming his Magoi. Alibaba ultimately rejects the path Ithnan offers him.
Aladdin opposes Ithnan's attempts to spread depravity and recognizes the danger presented by Black Rukh. Aladdin helps free Alibaba from Ithnan's curse and later learns the truth of Ithnan's past through the history of Alma Torran.
Sinbad confronts Ithnan after the events surrounding Zagan. Ithnan attempts to corrupt him with Black Rukh, but Sinbad demonstrates that he can resist the Fall and ultimately destroys Ithnan's remaining manifestation.
Setta was Ithnan's adoptive brother and one of the people closest to him in Alma Torran. The two fought together in Solomon's resistance, and Setta's death deeply affected Ithnan. His inability to reconcile that loss with Solomon's new conception of fate becomes an important part of his eventual rebellion.
Solomon Jehoahaz Abraham was Ithnan's leader during the resistance in Alma Torran. Ithnan once respected and loved Solomon deeply, but eventually turned against the world Solomon created. Despite that betrayal, his respect for his former leader never disappears completely.
Ugo fought alongside Ithnan as part of Solomon Jehoahaz Abraham's resistance. Their association predates Al-Thamen, when both were among the magicians helping Solomon overthrow Alma Torran's Orthodox government.
