Iihiko Shishime

Iihiko is violent, arrogant and easily amused by other people's attempts to hurt him. He dismisses opponents who pose no threat and treats severe injuries inflicted on others as entertainment.

He repeatedly calls things that interest him "fresh," one of the few signs that something in the modern world has caught his attention. He also prefers bizarre improvised weapons over conventional ones, using whatever happens to be nearby when demonstrating his overwhelming strength.

Accounts of the original Iihiko describe a markedly different figure: a hero who protected the weak and punished the wicked. Millennia of continued existence have left the present Iihiko detached from the world that once gave that heroism meaning.

Iihiko possesses overwhelming physical strength and durability. He can critically injure powerful fighters with casual attacks and withstand assaults from Abnormals who would overwhelm ordinary opponents.

Irreversible Destruction causes damage inflicted by Iihiko to resist recovery. Natural healing and supernatural restoration cannot simply erase what he has destroyed. The principle also operates defensively: attacks directed against him can themselves be "broken," making repeated or overwhelmingly powerful techniques ineffective in ways that differ from ordinary durability.

Iihiko is also extraordinarily effective with improvised weapons. Objects as trivial as rubber bands or glasses become lethal in his hands, and he can even weaponize the surrounding air through raw physical action.

Iihiko appears in Shiranui Village when Medaka's group arrives searching for Hansode. Ajimu immediately identifies him as an opponent from her distant past and warns the others that conventional assumptions about skills will not protect them.

His existence reveals why the Shiranui Household's history extends beyond simply creating doubles for influential families. The "Iihiko" encountered in the present is part of a five-thousand-year succession in which the Shiranui Household prepares new doubles to inherit the hero's consciousness, preserving Iihiko across generations.

Iihiko overwhelms Ajimu and Medaka's companions before Hansode becomes involved in the succession intended to provide him with another body. Defeating him requires understanding the Style-like logic governing Irreversible Destruction rather than simply producing a stronger attack.

Najimi Ajimu has fought Iihiko since antiquity and considers him the first person she could not defeat. Ajimu is overwhelmed again when she encounters Iihiko in the present.

Hansode Shiranui is connected to Iihiko through the Shiranui Household's plan to prepare her as his next vessel.

Hanhaba Shiranui leads the Household preserving Iihiko's legacy in Shiranui Village.

Medaka Kurokami becomes Iihiko's principal modern opponent. Iihiko takes an interest in Medaka Kurokami because she approaches him differently from companions who attack immediately.

Zenkichi Hitoyoshi attacks Iihiko on sight, only for Iihiko initially to mistake him for an insect because the attack causes so little harm.

Misogi Kumagawa's restorative Minus encounters one of its rare counters in Iihiko's Irreversible Destruction.
