Makoto Kibune

Kibune maintains a calm, friendly façade around his new division but privately judges struggling subordinates as worthless. His arrogance and obsession with advancement previously prevented him from earning promotion.

He values power over comradeship and treats the Kasumiouji conspiracy as a route to greater status. This outlook puts him in direct conflict with the Third Division’s concern for its members.

Reppuu releases with the command “Rage violently,” becoming a large three-bladed weapon. Kibune combines it with an unnamed parasitic Bakkōtō that allows the spinning blade to move through the air under remote control.

The Bakkōtō helps Kibune compensate when Wabisuke increases Reppuu’s weight. Sources within the anime sometimes blur the distinction between Reppuu and the attached Bakkōtō, but the weapon is presented as his Zanpakutō enhanced by a separate parasite.

Amagai brings Kibune into the Third Division, where he quickly clashes with Lieutenant Izuru Kira’s leadership. Kibune secretly aids Kumoi and participates in Rurichiyo’s abduction.

Kira discovers Kibune’s betrayal and repeatedly strikes Reppuu with Wabisuke, making it increasingly heavy. After Kira breaks through his defense, Kibune’s overused Bakkōtō consumes him and he dies.

Shuusuke Amagai installs Kibune as Third Seat and uses him within the wider conspiracy. Izuru Kira is Kibune’s immediate superior, rival and eventual victor.

Gyokaku Kumoi supplies the conspiracy’s Bakkōtō and employs Kibune as an enforcer. Kuzuryuu is an assassin whom Kibune kills after his failed attempt to turn against Kumoi.
