Grand Fisher

Grand Fisher is predatory, patient and skilled at exploiting emotional vulnerability. Instead of simply overpowering targets, it studies what they value and transforms its lure into someone whose appearance will make them hesitate.

It is also vindictive. After Ichigo wounds it, Grand Fisher remembers him and seeks revenge rather than returning to indiscriminate hunting. Its confidence rises after becoming an Arrancar, although it remains prone to underestimating opponents whose power it cannot sense accurately.

In its Hollow form, Grand Fisher resembles an enormous, fur-covered creature with clawed limbs and an anglerfish-like appendage extending from its forehead. The lure can assume the appearance of previous victims and move independently enough to distract an opponent while the main body attacks. Grand Fisher can also conceal its presence behind the lure, extend its hair as spikes and endure substantial injuries.

Its Arrancar transformation produces a much larger humanoid body with enhanced strength and durability. It carries an oversized Zanpakuto, but neither the weapon’s name nor a Resurreccion is revealed.

Grand Fisher first appears in connection with the anniversary of Masaki’s death. It uses the likeness of a young girl to draw Ichigo into battle, then reshapes the lure into Masaki to destabilize him. Ichigo resists the deception and wounds the Hollow, but it escapes to Hueco Mundo.

Grand Fisher is subsequently converted into an imperfect Arrancar and returns to Karakura Town to settle its grudge. It mistakes Isshin Kurosaki for an ordinary human until Isshin appears in Soul Reaper form and destroys it with a single strike.

Masaki Kurosaki is one of Grand Fisher’s victims, killed while shielding her son from its attack. Ichigo Kurosaki survives that encounter and later wounds the Hollow after recognizing its lure as a deception.

Isshin Kurosaki avenges Masaki by killing Grand Fisher after its return as an Arrancar. Sousuke Aizen’s forces oversee the creation of imperfect Arrancar such as Grand Fisher.
