Gasparde

Gasparde is ruthless, treacherous, and contemptuous of people he considers weaker than himself. His willingness to betray the Marines and manipulate the Dead End Race reflects his complete disregard for loyalty or fair competition.

He treats his subordinates as disposable underlings and has little concern for civilian casualties.

The Ame Ame no Mi allows Gasparde to transform his body into green candy syrup, create syrup and reshape his body around attacks. The ability behaves similarly to a Logia, although it is not part of the manga's canonical Devil Fruit system.

His syrup body is vulnerable when mixed with flour, which causes it to lose its fluid properties. Gasparde is also physically powerful enough to fight Luffy at close range.

Gasparde enters the Dead End Race while secretly arranging for competitors to follow a false route into a Marine trap.

His past also connects him to Shuraiya's pursuit of revenge. The Straw Hats eventually board the Salamander after discovering his deception, bringing Luffy into direct conflict with him.

Needless is Gasparde's right-hand man, although their relationship is hostile beneath the surface.

Shuraiya Bascùd seeks revenge against Gasparde for destroying his hometown and family. Biera and Adelle Bascud are forced to work aboard his ship. Monkey D. Luffy becomes his principal opponent.
