Shuraiya Bascud

Shuraiya is calm and capable in ordinary circumstances but becomes consumed by anger whenever Gasparde is involved. Revenge has shaped much of his life, and he is willing to risk death if it gives him an opportunity to kill the pirate.

He is nevertheless compassionate toward innocent people and develops mutual respect with the Straw Hats.

Shuraiya is an exceptionally agile hand-to-hand fighter. He uses acrobatics, environmental objects and quick tactical decisions rather than relying on a Devil Fruit or supernatural ability.

His resourcefulness is especially apparent during his battle with Needless, where he studies the mechanics of his opponent's unusual weapons and finds a way to exploit them.

Shuraiya infiltrates Gasparde's crew after demonstrating his strength before the Dead End Race. His actual objective is revenge for Gasparde's attack on Elena years earlier.

After surviving his confrontation with Gasparde, Shuraiya learns that the younger sister he believed had died is actually Adelle Bascùd, who survived under Biera's care. The siblings reunite after the battle.

Gasparde is the pirate Shuraiya has dedicated himself to killing.

Needless seriously wounded Shuraiya during the destruction of Elena and later becomes his principal opponent aboard the Salamander. [Adelle Bascud is Shuraiya's long-lost younger sister.](#spoiler) Monkey D. Luffy becomes his ally against Gasparde.
