En is quiet, formal and emotionally restrained. She and Chan normally speak and move with an almost mechanical detachment, particularly while performing their duties as guards.

That blank exterior changes where Hagire is concerned. En regards him as the person who gave her and Chan a life when they had little ability to interact with the outside world, producing fierce gratitude and devotion.

En understands that Hagire does not return the twins' parental love. Her loyalty persists despite that knowledge, making their relationship an act of conscious devotion rather than simple ignorance of his indifference.

En is a Deadman who shares Hollow Swallow with Chan. Their blood establishes connections between minds or between a mind and a machine, giving their Branch of Sin functions unlike the combat-oriented abilities used by most Deadmen.

The twins can synchronize their movements through Hollow Swallow Dance Macabre, allowing them to fight as if they were parts of a single coordinated body. En is also highly proficient with her bayonet rifle.

Hagire exploits Hollow Swallow to transfer his memories and consciousness into replacement bodies. The process overwrites the target's mind, allowing Hagire to prolong his existence through successive hosts.

En and Chan first appear as Hagire's attendants, blocking Kiwako Flügel Makina from seeing the director without authorization. Their behavior makes clear that areas of Deadman Wonderland exist outside the chief guard's control.

They continue serving within the prison after changes in its leadership, while their true loyalty remains with Hagire.

In the later return to Deadman Wonderland, the twins use Hollow Swallow as part of Hagire's attempt to overwrite Ganta with his consciousness. Kiyomasa Senji interrupts the process and fights them before their final attempt to protect Hagire.

Chan is En's twin brother. Their shared Branch of Sin links them physically and mentally in combat, and they function almost continuously as a pair.

Rinichirō Hagire is En's adoptive father and the person she serves with complete devotion. She knows that he does not love her in return but remains willing to sacrifice herself for him.

Shiro is En's adoptive sister through Hagire.

Kiwako Flügel Makina clashes with En and Chan over access to areas controlled directly by Hagire.

Kiyomasa Senji fights the twins during Hagire's attempt to take Ganta's body and fatally wounds them while they protect Hagire.
