Chan

Chan is restrained, obedient and normally expressionless. He and En communicate in an almost robotic manner and carry out orders with little visible hesitation.

His strongest emotions concern Hagire. Chan regards the scientist as his father because Hagire recognized that the twins were conscious when others considered them effectively unreachable and gave them a way to interact with the world.

Chan is aware that Hagire does not genuinely love him or En. He nevertheless chooses to remain loyal, valuing what Hagire gave them more than the absence of reciprocal affection.

Chan is a Deadman whose Hollow Swallow establishes blood-based connections between minds and machines. Used with En, the ability can transmit information and synchronize targets in ways conventional Branches of Sin cannot.

Hollow Swallow Dance Macabre links the twins' movements, allowing them to coordinate attacks as though they were a single combatant. Chan is also an accurate rifleman and carries a bayonet rifle.

The twins' most consequential use of Hollow Swallow is the consciousness-transfer procedure developed by Hagire. Their blood creates the connection through which Hagire's memories can overwrite another person's mind and turn that body into his next vessel.

Chan and En appear as the attendants controlling access to Deadman Wonderland's director. They refuse Kiwako Flügel Makina entry when she fails to follow Hagire's required procedure, demonstrating that parts of the prison do not answer to her.

The twins continue operating behind the scenes as control of Deadman Wonderland changes, performing duties connected to Hagire and the prison's experiments.

They later assist Hagire in attempting to transfer his consciousness into Ganta. Senji interrupts the procedure, and the twins confront him using Hollow Swallow before making a final effort to protect their adoptive father.

En is Chan's twin sister. Their shared history, abilities and near-perfect combat synchronization make them effectively inseparable.

Rinichirō Hagire is Chan's adoptive father. Chan knows Hagire does not return his love but willingly remains devoted to him.

Shiro is Chan's adoptive sister through Hagire.

Kiwako Flügel Makina encounters Chan as one of the guards preventing her from reaching Hagire.

Kiyomasa Senji battles Chan and En during the attempt to overwrite Ganta and fatally wounds the twins when they intervene to protect Hagire.
