Chihaya Hagiwara

Chihaya is confident, daring, blunt, and unusually relaxed around people who might intimidate other officers. She addresses Jugo informally and enjoys teasing him, while remaining fully capable of becoming serious when an investigation demands it.

Her police work can be extremely aggressive. She is an expert rider but also takes risks that invite criticism from colleagues, particularly when pursuing dangerous suspects. Her willingness to use her motorcycle directly against an armed criminal illustrates both her skill and her disregard for conventional restraint when someone's life is at stake.

Chihaya also carries deep affection for her younger brother. Kenji's experiences influence how she responds to Conan and to people connected with the Metropolitan Police Department.

Chihaya is an exceptionally skilled motorcycle rider capable of performing advanced maneuvers during high-speed pursuits. She can control a police motorcycle through dangerous turns, jumps, wheelies, and other maneuvers while maintaining awareness of suspects and surrounding traffic.

She is also a capable police investigator. Chihaya notices inconsistencies, follows Conan's reasoning readily, and has enough observational ability to become suspicious of the mechanics behind "Sleeping Kogoro."

Her fearlessness and fast reactions make her effective during physical confrontations even though she has no supernatural abilities.

Chihaya first takes a major role when she encounters Conan Edogawa during a Kanagawa kidnapping case. She already knows of Conan because of his involvement in an earlier bombing incident connected to her brother.

Chihaya pursues the kidnappers with Conan riding behind her, demonstrating the aggressive motorcycle skills that define her introduction. Her interactions with Jugo subsequently develop into a recurring strand within the Kanagawa police stories.

Chihaya's gratitude toward Conan is rooted in Kenji's death: she knows Conan was publicly credited with helping stop a later bombing connected to the bomber responsible for Kenji's death, and privately regards assisting Conan as repaying a debt to her brother.

Kenji Hagiwara is Chihaya's younger brother. His death while serving in the bomb disposal unit remains one of the strongest influences on Chihaya's feelings toward the people connected with his old cases.

Jugo Yokomizo is Chihaya's colleague in the Kanagawa Prefectural Police. She speaks casually to Jugo Yokomizo, teases him openly, and their interactions carry clear romantic undertones.

Conan Edogawa earns Chihaya's gratitude through his connection to the bombing case associated with her brother. She quickly trusts Conan Edogawa's intelligence during investigations.

Jinpei Matsuda was Kenji's close friend and fellow police officer, and Chihaya knew him through her brother.
