Araki

Araki is ambitious, excitable and willing to take extraordinary risks for photography. He sees the catastrophe not only as a threat but as the chance to produce an image that could establish him as a major news photographer.

That ambition has a selfish edge. He leaves his wife and children behind while pursuing the story, prioritizing the possibility of professional recognition over remaining with his family.

Araki is nevertheless sociable and practical enough to recognize the value of companionship. Hideo's firearm makes joining him far safer than continuing toward Mount Fuji alone.

Araki is a professional photographer accustomed to camera equipment and image composition. His experience comes primarily from commercial catalog work rather than war or disaster reporting.

He carries the equipment and observational habits needed to document the outbreak. His desire to photograph events can, however, encourage him to remain close to danger rather than avoid it.

Araki has no established martial-arts training or anomalous ZQN abilities and depends heavily on armed companions for protection.

Araki encounters Hideo and Hiromi while trying to reach the fifth station of Mount Fuji. He is immediately interested in Hideo's shotgun and joins them.

The trio eventually reaches the Gotemba outlet survivors, where Araki becomes part of the larger community alongside Tsugumi Oda, Murai and the mall's leadership.

When the outlet refuge collapses under a mass ZQN attack, Araki is caught in the same desperate evacuation as the other survivors, and his ambition to document the catastrophe becomes secondary to escaping it.

Hideo Suzuki becomes Araki's travelling companion after Araki notices the protection offered by his shotgun.

Hiromi Hayakari travels with Hideo Suzuki when Araki joins them.

Tsugumi Oda is another survivor Araki encounters at the Gotemba outlet community.

Masakazu Murai is part of the same mall refuge after Araki reaches it.
