Aoko Nakamori

Aoko is cheerful, energetic, outspoken, and quick-tempered when Kaito deliberately provokes her. Their constant teasing frequently develops into arguments, but she is equally capable of worrying about him when he is genuinely endangered.

She strongly dislikes Kaitou Kid because his heists repeatedly humiliate Ginzo and consume much of her father's time. Aoko therefore takes the police pursuit personally even though she is not directly involved in law enforcement.

Aoko is also friendly with her classmates and enjoys ordinary teenage activities, providing a contrast with the elaborate thefts and criminal conspiracies surrounding Kaito.

Aoko has no supernatural abilities and is not trained as a professional detective or thief.

She is nevertheless resourceful and determined. When she becomes suspicious of Kaito, she devises practical ways to test whether he could be Kaitou Kid, including keeping him physically beside her during a scheduled heist.

Aoko's greatest narrative strength is her familiarity with Kaito. Years of friendship allow her to recognize changes in his behavior even when she cannot always explain their cause.

Aoko has known Kaito since childhood and attends class 2-B at Ekoda High School with him. Their everyday friendship provides the personal side of Magic Kaito between Kid's heists.

Her hatred of Kaitou Kid creates a persistent irony in their relationship. Kaito is secretly the very thief Aoko wants her father to capture, while Aoko remains unaware of his double life.

Aoko occasionally becomes involved in Kid-related incidents herself, including the Crystal Mother affair aboard the Royal Express. She also appears in Detective Conan stories and adaptations that incorporate Kaito's supporting cast.

Kaito Kuroba is Aoko's childhood friend and romantic interest. Their relationship is defined by teasing, arguments, jealousy, and genuine affection. Aoko remains unaware that Kaito is Kaitou Kid.

Ginzo Nakamori is Aoko's father. She cares deeply about Ginzo Nakamori and resents Kaitou Kid for repeatedly making him look foolish.

Midoriko Nakamori is Aoko's mother and a public prosecutor.

Akako Koizumi is Aoko's classmate and a rival for Kaito's attention.

Saguru Hakuba is Aoko's classmate and has shown romantic interest in her, something that irritates Kaito.

Keiko Momoi is one of Aoko's closest school friends.
