Ginzo Nakamori

Nakamori is boisterous, stubborn, energetic, and fiercely competitive. He approaches each Kid heist convinced that a new security arrangement will finally end the thief's career, only to become furious when another illusion defeats it.

His fixation can make him impatient with outsiders who interfere with his operation. Nevertheless, he is a serious police officer who wants Kid arrested rather than harmed, and he objects when other people treat a heist as an excuse for lethal violence.

Nakamori is also a protective father. His police obsession frequently frustrates Aoko Nakamori, but their relationship is affectionate despite the amount of time he spends chasing Kid.

Nakamori is an experienced police inspector capable of coordinating large security operations. His Kid traps involve surveillance teams, checkpoints, identity verification, sealed buildings, and large numbers of officers positioned around likely escape routes.

Years of pursuing a master of disguise have made him highly suspicious of impersonation. He routinely pulls suspects' faces or introduces verification procedures intended to prevent Kid from infiltrating police lines.

Kid's success does not mean Nakamori is incompetent. His opponent possesses extraordinary disguise and escape skills, and Nakamori has occasionally anticipated enough of Kid's methods to force the thief to improvise.

Nakamori appears whenever Kaitou Kid announces a major theft in Tokyo, often assuming command of the police response. His presence connects Detective Conan's Kid cases directly to the larger Magic Kaito cast.

Conan frequently disrupts Nakamori's carefully constructed plans by pursuing Kid independently. Although Nakamori can resent the interference, Conan's deductions sometimes reveal the mechanism behind a theft that conventional security measures cannot prevent.

Nakamori has unknowingly pursued more than one person using the Kaitou Kid identity across his career. The thief he currently chases is Kaito Kuroba, his daughter's childhood friend, while the earlier Kid was Kaito's father Toichi.

Kaitou Kid is Nakamori's long-standing quarry. Capturing Kaitou Kid has become the defining professional obsession of Nakamori's career.

Aoko Nakamori is Nakamori's daughter. Despite his demanding work and explosive personality, he cares deeply for Aoko Nakamori.

Kaito Kuroba is Aoko's childhood friend and a familiar presence around the Nakamori household. [Nakamori does not know that Kaito Kuroba is the Kaitou Kid he continually pursues.](#spoiler)

Toichi Kuroba was the original Kaitou Kid pursued by Nakamori before Kaito inherited the identity.

Conan Edogawa repeatedly interferes in Nakamori's Kid operations, often coming closer to exposing the thief's methods than the assembled police force.

Jirokichi Suzuki frequently creates elaborate public challenges for Kid, forcing Nakamori to coordinate police security around Jirokichi's exhibitions.
