Akemi Miyano

Akemi is compassionate, loyal, and considerably gentler than most people associated with the Black Organization. She maintains an ordinary social life where possible and provides her younger sister with an emotional connection to the outside world.

Her willingness to take risks stems primarily from concern for Shiho. Akemi understands that the Organization is dangerous but refuses to accept permanent captivity as inevitable.

She is also capable of deception when circumstances demand it, adopting false identities and participating in criminal activity as part of a larger effort to change her sister's situation.

Akemi has no extraordinary combat abilities comparable to the Organization's professional assassins. Her strengths lie in planning, deception, maintaining cover identities, and functioning within ordinary society despite being monitored by the syndicate.

She is capable of organizing criminal activity and coordinating with accomplices. However, her comparatively normal upbringing leaves her at a significant disadvantage when dealing directly with ruthless senior operatives.

Akemi enters the story using the name Masami Hirota during a case involving a major bank robbery. She approaches Kogorou Mouri under false pretenses while searching for people connected to the stolen money.

Akemi participates in the billion-yen robbery after the Black Organization promises that completing it will allow her and Shiho to leave. The promise is false. Gin confronts Akemi, demands the money, and shoots her when she refuses to reveal its location.

Conan reaches Akemi before she dies, and she reveals the location of the stolen money and the existence of the men in black. Her death later becomes a major motivation for Shiho after Shiho escapes the Organization and becomes Ai Haibara.
