Yuuga Oudou

Yuga is inventive, optimistic, curious, and remarkably relaxed about winning and losing. He enjoys dueling but considers enjoyment and freedom more important than maintaining a perfect competitive record.

His defining trait is his constant desire to build things. Yuga approaches problems as engineering challenges and frequently creates devices that range from genuinely useful machines to bizarre experiments. He refers to these inventions and personal approaches as his "Roads."

Yuga is also unusually willing to share his discoveries. He does not create Rush Duels to control the format himself; he wants other people to play, modify and enjoy what he has made.

Yuga is an inventive Rush Duelist whose Spellcaster deck rewards flexible deck construction. Sevens Road Magician becomes stronger according to the different Attributes represented among monsters in his Graveyard, fitting Yuga's preference for varied strategies.

He continually experiments with new cards and combinations rather than relying on one fixed method. His willingness to accept losses gives him opportunities to study other duelists without becoming consumed by maintaining his reputation.

Outside dueling, Yuga is a gifted inventor and programmer. His technical ability is crucial to the creation and installation of Rush Duel rules within Goha's dueling network.

Yuga begins dissatisfied with the restrictive way Goha Enterprises manages dueling. After discovering a mysterious hologram connected to the legend of the King of Duels, he successfully installs his Rush Duel rules into the system.

The new format quickly spreads throughout Goha City, bringing Yuga into conflict with authorities and other duelists who either oppose Rush Duels or want to control them.

Rather than trying to become the strongest duelist himself, Yuga repeatedly works to preserve Rush Dueling as something everyone can enjoy. His friendships with Luke, Romin and Gakuto become central to that effort.

Yuga eventually succeeds in spreading Rush Duels far beyond their beginnings at Goha 7th Elementary, fundamentally changing the dueling culture that Goha had tightly controlled.

Tatsuhisa Kamijou is one of Yuga's closest friends and most persistent rivals. Tatsuhisa Kamijou wants to become King of Duels, while Yuga is more interested in building new Roads.

Romin Kirishima becomes Yuga's friend and gradually discovers her own enthusiasm for Rush Dueling through their adventures together.

Gakuto Sougetsu initially opposes Yuga's willingness to violate Goha's rules but eventually becomes a trusted friend and supporter of Rush Duels.

Roa Kirishima is one of the early major duelists to challenge Yuga's connection to Rush Duels and the title of King of Duels.

Neil Saionji becomes both an opponent and intellectual rival whose technological ability allows him to challenge Yuga on terms few other characters can.
