Yushirou

Yushirou is blunt, irritable, and openly hostile toward most people who interfere with his quiet life beside Tamayo. He has little patience for strangers and is especially abrasive toward Tanjiro Kamado, frequently criticizing him even while providing assistance.

His attitude changes dramatically whenever Tamayo is involved. Yushirou idolizes her to an almost comical degree, becoming furious when anyone insults or inconveniences her and readily praising even minor things she does. The devotion is nevertheless sincere: Tamayo saved his life and gave him a future when he had been dying, and he dedicates himself to protecting and assisting her.

Beneath the hostility, Yushirou repeatedly proves willing to risk himself for other people. His cooperation with the Demon Slayer Corps becomes particularly important once their goals fully align against Muzan.

Yushirou possesses the physical abilities and regeneration expected of a demon, though his greatest value lies in his Blood Demon Art rather than brute-force combat. He creates paper talismans that can influence perception when attached to people, objects, or surfaces.

These talismans can render targets invisible or reveal things normally hidden from human perception. Yushirou can also connect visual fields, allowing another person to see what a talisman-equipped observer sees. This makes him exceptionally effective at reconnaissance, concealment, communication, and battlefield coordination.

During the final conflict, Yushirou demonstrates a far more aggressive application of his ability by interfering with Nakime's vision and eventually wresting partial control of her Blood Demon Art, allowing him to manipulate the Infinity Castle against Muzan's intentions.

Yushirou meets Tanjiro and Nezuko Kamado after Tamayo brings them into her hidden residence in Asakusa. Although initially resentful of their presence, he helps defend the house when Susamaru and Yahaba attack.

His connection to Tamayo makes him part of the independent effort to understand demon physiology and Muzan's blood. He assists with the collection and analysis of blood from powerful demons while remaining largely outside the formal Demon Slayer Corps.

Yushirou eventually joins the Corps during the final campaign. After Tamayo is killed by Muzan, he continues fighting in accordance with her plans, helps seize control of Nakime's Infinity Castle, and later provides medical assistance during the battle on the surface. Decades after the demon era ends, he remains alive and becomes a painter who repeatedly depicts Tamayo.

Tamayo is Yushirou's doctor, creator, closest companion, and the person to whom he is overwhelmingly devoted. She offered him the choice of becoming a demon when he was terminally ill and later taught him to live without killing humans. Her death leaves Yushirou devastated, and his later life remains centered on preserving her memory.

Tanjiro Kamado initially irritates Yushirou, who treats him with open contempt and jealousy whenever Tamayo praises him. Despite this, the two become dependable allies, and Yushirou repeatedly aids Tanjiro's struggle against Muzan.

Nezuko Kamado attracts Yushirou's attention because she is another demon who does not consume humans. He initially mocks her appearance, only to reverse himself immediately after Tamayo compliments her.

Chachamaru works alongside Yushirou and Tamayo as their demon cat and messenger, transporting blood samples and medical materials.

Nakime becomes one of Yushirou's principal opponents during the final battle. Using his talismans, Yushirou infiltrates her vision and fights her for control of the Infinity Castle.

Muzan Kibutsuji is Yushirou's ultimate enemy as both the progenitor of demons and the target of Tamayo's centuries-long opposition.
