Wakabayashi

Wakabayashi is portrayed as a kind and cooperative member of Scar Chain. He accepts the dangers of the escape plan and works alongside the other Deadmen rather than allowing the loss of his leg to exclude him from operations.

His limited page time leaves much of his personal history unexplored, but his conduct consistently places him on the side of the resistance and its collective attempt to gain freedom.

Wakabayashi is a Deadman and therefore possesses the ability to manipulate blood, but his personal Branch of Sin is never demonstrated.

He uses a rocket launcher during Scar Chain's fighting with the Undertakers, giving him substantial conventional firepower despite fighting from a wheelchair.

Wakabayashi participates in Scar Chain's attempt to escape Deadman Wonderland and helps misdirect guards while the resistance carries out its plan.

He survives the initial stages of the Undertaker assault and later participates when the remaining members move to rescue their captured companions.

In the manga, Wakabayashi is killed by Nagi after Genkaku's psychological manipulation drives Nagi into a violent breakdown. The anime handles the circumstances differently and later shows Wakabayashi among the dead without clearly depicting who killed him.

Nagi Kengamine is Wakabayashi's Scar Chain leader. In the manga, the mentally broken Nagi ultimately kills him during Genkaku's manipulation.

Karako Koshio is Scar Chain's second-in-command and one of the people Wakabayashi helps during the escape.

Bundō Rokuro is initially treated as a fellow resistance member before his role as an Undertaker informant is exposed.

Genkaku Azuma commands the Undertakers responsible for destroying Scar Chain's escape operation.
