Uzume Megusono

Megusuno is imaginative, theatrical and exceptionally committed to whatever fictional premise she creates. She can improvise explanations fast enough to invalidate an opponent's attempted solution and make an invented scenario extraordinarily difficult to defeat.

Unlike Tsugiha Yojirou, whose fantasies can overwhelm her grip on reality, Megusuno remains much more aware of the distinction between imagination and reality. Kumagawa nevertheless suspects that calling her merely imaginative may be too generous.

Her confidence drops sharply when a threat is redirected toward her personally. She is comfortable controlling a fictional scenario from a distance but can become flustered when an opponent refuses to play along and places her at risk.

Megusuno possesses an extraordinary imagination rather than a conventional Abnormality. Her principal strength is creating an unfalsifiable scenario and continuously modifying its rules to counter whatever solution an opponent proposes.

During her succession trial, she claims to summon an invisible Cerberus. If an opponent attacks it, she can say it dodged; if an opponent uses a technique that should affect an entire area, she can invent another property explaining why it survived. This relies on the logical problem of disproving something whose existence cannot be directly tested.

Her ability therefore depends heavily on controlling the premise of an encounter. An opponent who rejects the premise entirely or threatens Megusuno herself can undermine the psychological advantage on which the technique depends.

Megusuno administers the eighth succession trial, "Magical Adventure: Magical Beast Extermination." The candidates are told to defeat an invisible Cerberus that exists entirely within the scenario she constructs.

Repeated attacks fail because Megusuno simply invents new reasons why the creature survives. The challenge therefore cannot be won through greater firepower; the participants have to outthink the person controlling the imaginary rules.

Tsugiha eventually turns Megusuno's own style of extreme imagination against her, frightening the supposedly more grounded "Witch" badly enough that Megusuno concedes the trial.

Ten years later, Megusuno becomes an exclusive fashion designer for top models.

Tsugiha Yojirou possesses an imagination comparable to Megusuno's but has a much looser relationship with reality. Tsugiha ultimately overwhelms Megusuno by responding to her imaginary scenario with even more extreme behavior.

Misogi Kumagawa questions whether Megusuno's extraordinary imagination should simply be described as insanity.
