Tomoyuki Uekusa

Uekusa is calm and disciplined. He rarely attracts attention to himself and generally favors the sensible basketball decision over a spectacular one.

Taoka values him as a player who understands game situations and does not make unnecessary mistakes. When Ryonan holds an advantage, Uekusa is comfortable slowing the pace rather than forcing risky attacks.

His understated personality fits his basketball role. Surrounded by more conspicuous teammates, he concentrates on keeping the offense functional rather than demanding possessions for himself.

Uekusa's main strengths are stamina, ball security and decision-making. Sendoh specifically recognizes his endurance, while Taoka trusts his understanding of basketball and ability to avoid careless errors.

As a point guard, he advances the ball and connects Ryonan's scorers rather than serving as a primary scoring option. His presence allows Sendoh to spend more possessions attacking away from conventional point-guard responsibilities.

Against Shohoku, however, Ryota Miyagi's exceptional speed places Uekusa under considerable pressure. The matchup eventually exhausts him and demonstrates the limits of his otherwise reliable physical conditioning.

Uekusa is part of Ryonan's regular rotation through its major Kanagawa games. He contributes to a team constructed around Uozumi's interior presence, Sendoh's versatility and later Kicchou Fukuda's scoring.

During Ryonan's decisive game against Shohoku, Uekusa begins as the point guard and handles Miyagi. His steady play helps Ryonan establish itself early, but the pace demanded by Miyagi gradually takes its toll.

Late in the game, Uekusa is substituted as Ryonan adjusts its lineup for the final stretch. Ryonan ultimately loses narrowly and misses qualification for the national tournament.

Akira Sendoh is Uekusa's teammate and Ryonan's ace. Uekusa's ball handling allows Sendoh greater freedom to concentrate on scoring.

Moichi Taoka values Uekusa for his stamina, basketball intelligence and low-error style.

Ryota Miyagi is Uekusa's principal matchup against Shohoku and uses his superior speed to pressure him.

Hiroaki Koshino is a fellow second-year guard with whom Uekusa shares Ryonan's perimeter responsibilities.

Jun Uozumi captains the team and anchors the interior behind Uekusa.

Kicchou Fukuda provides Ryonan with another major scoring option when he returns to the lineup.
