Toguro Ani

Elder Toguro is sadistic, cruel and deliberately provocative. He takes pleasure in describing violence and suffering in graphic terms, often attempting to destabilize opponents emotionally before attacking them.

He lacks much of the warrior's restraint shown by his younger brother. Where Younger Toguro seeks strong opponents, Elder Toguro appears more interested in domination, survival and inflicting pain.

His arrogance is reinforced by his regenerative abilities. Because ordinary injuries rarely threaten him permanently, he treats severe physical damage with amusement and assumes that opponents will eventually exhaust themselves.

Elder Toguro possesses extreme control over his body's structure. He can stretch, flatten, reshape or redistribute his flesh and internal organs almost instantly.

He frequently transforms parts of himself into blades, spears and other weapons. During his partnership with Younger Toguro, he can wrap himself around his brother and produce weapons directly from his body.

His regeneration is extraordinary. Severe wounds, dismemberment and damage that would immediately kill most demons can be repaired as long as sufficient portions of his body remain functional.

He can also invade or merge with another body under certain circumstances. His combination of regeneration and shapeshifting makes him difficult to eliminate through conventional physical attacks.

Elder Toguro initially works alongside his younger brother as a mercenary and later competes as a member of Team Toguro in the Dark Tournament.

During the tournament finals, he faces Kazuma Kuwabara. His grotesque body manipulation and regeneration initially make him appear almost impossible to defeat through Kuwabara's normal methods.

Kuwabara eventually reshapes his Spirit Sword into a flyswatter-like weapon and crushes Elder Toguro before driving him deep into the arena floor. He survives the attack.

Afterward, Elder Toguro provokes Younger Toguro by mocking Genkai's death, causing his brother to strike him off the island. He survives again and is later found by Sensui's group. Gourmet consumes him in an attempt to acquire his abilities, but Elder Toguro takes over Gourmet's body instead. Kurama ultimately traps him inside the Sinning Tree, where he is condemned to an endless cycle of illusion and regeneration.

Toguro Otouto is Elder Toguro's younger brother and longtime partner. Their relationship deteriorates because Elder Toguro lacks the personal limits and residual humanity that his brother retains.

Genkai knew the Toguro brothers during their human lives and participated in the Dark Tournament associated with their transformation.

Kazuma Kuwabara fights Elder Toguro during the Dark Tournament finals and discovers a way to overcome his regenerative body.

Sakyo employs the Toguro brothers and sponsors their Dark Tournament team.

Kurama eventually defeats Elder Toguro by trapping him within the Sinning Tree's endless illusion.

Gourmet attempts to consume Elder Toguro to acquire his powers, only for Elder Toguro to take control of his body instead.

Shinobu Sensui is associated with the group that makes use of Elder Toguro after the Dark Tournament.
