The☆Lugh

The☆Lugh is proud, eccentric and accustomed to being treated as royalty. His reputation as the Great King of Terror makes his arrival sound apocalyptic, yet his actual interests are considerably less sinister than the title suggests.

He loves manga and creates his own work, Mr. Universe, despite lacking the artistic skill expected of a professional creator. He takes his creation seriously and wants others to appreciate it, giving him an earnest side beneath his royal self-importance.

The☆Lugh is also genuinely enthusiastic about Rush Dueling. He enjoys strong opponents and can become absorbed in the excitement of a match rather than treating every Duel as an exercise of royal authority.

The☆Lugh possesses a dangerous freezing phenomenon associated with him. People and objects can become frozen under circumstances connected to his power, making his arrival a threat even before his intentions are fully understood.

As a Rush Duelist, he uses an ice-themed Dragon Deck built around Normal Monsters and "The☆" support cards. His strategy emphasizes his ace, The☆Dragias, and can place multiple copies of the monster on the field to imitate the multiple attacks associated with Multistrike Dragon Dragias.

The☆Dragias is supported by cards designed specifically around The☆Lugh's distinctive Deck construction. He later demonstrates access to Fusion Summoning as the group's confrontation with him escalates.

His status as ruler also gives him command of an enormous spacecraft and an entourage of alien followers, including specialists who participate in Rush Duels on his behalf.

The☆Lugh enters the story when his ship approaches Earth from beyond the Solar System. His reputation as the Great King of Terror immediately raises fears that his arrival may correspond to a catastrophic prophecy.

The UTS group travels to confront the situation and encounters The☆Lugh's servants before reaching the king himself. The unexplained freezing incidents surrounding his arrival make determining his intentions particularly urgent.

His eventual Rush Duel pits him against Yudias Velgear and Yuna Goha. When Yuna can no longer continue, Yuga Ohdo takes her place, allowing the Duel to become an unusual confrontation between The☆Lugh and a Duelist from the future.

The freezing phenomenon is eventually resolved without The☆Lugh becoming the apocalyptic destroyer his title initially suggests, and he subsequently becomes a recurring ally rather than remaining a principal enemy.

Zaion serves as The☆Lugh's chief of staff for many years. Their relationship extends well beyond the king's initial visit to Earth, and [later circumstances place The☆Lugh in the unusual position of working under Zaion in his furniture business](#spoiler).

Yudias Velgear confronts The☆Lugh during the crisis surrounding his arrival and eventually faces him in a Rush Duel.

Yuna Goha partners with Yudias Velgear against The☆Lugh. She is unable to finish the match and is replaced by another Duelist.

Yuga Ohdo takes Yuna's place during the Tag Rush Duel, bringing a Duelist from the future directly into the confrontation with The☆Lugh.

Nyandestar appears to align herself with The☆Lugh during the freezing crisis. Her apparent allegiance is deceptive rather than a genuine betrayal of her companions.

Lucidien "Luke" Kallister strongly resembles The☆Lugh and shares several motifs with him, including Dragias and the "The" naming convention. When characters from the GO RUSH!! era later encounter Luke in the future, they consider the possibility that The☆Lugh is his ancestor.
