Yudias Velgear

Yudias is serious, honorable, earnest, and unusually trusting. His background as a soldier gives him a formal approach to unfamiliar situations, but his lack of experience with ordinary Earth customs frequently leaves him confused by things his human friends consider mundane.

He possesses a strong sense of fair play. Even though his alien abilities could potentially give him advantages during a Duel, Yudias respects the rules and believes that Rush Duels should be decided through the game itself.

Most importantly, Yudias wants to end the Velgearians' war without simply finding a stronger weapon. His faith in Rush Duels comes from the possibility that they might provide his people with an alternative to endless conflict, placing him philosophically at odds with those who see dueling as another tool of warfare.

Yudias uses a Galaxy-Type Rush Duel Deck, introducing a monster Type that was previously unknown to his new friends. His signature monster is Galactica Oblivion, a Level 7 LIGHT Galaxy Normal Monster with 2500 ATK.

His Deck emphasizes Galaxy monsters and develops considerably as he learns more about Rush Dueling. Unlike experienced Earth duelists, Yudias begins the series without properly understanding the game, making his growth as a player an important part of his early adventures.

Outside dueling, Yudias possesses abilities beyond those of an ordinary human. He has superhuman physical capabilities and can fire beams from his eyes capable of cutting objects. He is also an experienced warrior and swordsman due to his background in the Velgearian conflict.

Yudias arrives on Earth after traveling across the galaxy in search of Rush Duels. His first meeting with Yuhi and Yuamu provides him with the teachers he needs, while they gain the opportunity to investigate an actual extraterrestrial through their organization, UTS.

Learning Rush Duels quickly becomes intertwined with Yudias's search for answers about the Velgearians and the conflict that displaced them. His new friendships on Earth expose him to possibilities very different from the military life he previously knew.

Zuwijo Zwil Velgear, Yudias's former commander, becomes particularly important to this conflict. Zuwijo intends to use Duel Monsters as weapons capable of changing the Velgearian war, while Yudias rejects the idea that the path to peace can be built by turning Rush Duels into another means of destruction.

As the story expands across Earth, space and different periods of history, Yudias repeatedly becomes central to events affecting both the Velgearians and the future of Rush Dueling itself. His journey increasingly connects the fate of his people with the Oudou siblings and the unusual history surrounding Mutsuba Town.

Yuuhi Oudou is one of the first humans Yudias meets on Earth and one of his Rush Duel teachers. Yudias becomes a close friend and UTS colleague of Yuuhi Oudou.

Yuamu Oudou helps teach Yudias about Rush Duels and recruits him into UTS. Yudias respects Yuamu Oudou's knowledge and regularly relies on her technical expertise.

Zuwijo Zwil Velgear is Yudias's commander and an important figure from his life before Earth. [Their conflicting beliefs about whether Duel Monsters should be used as weapons turn Zuwijo Zwil Velgear into one of Yudias's most significant opponents.](#spoiler)

Manabu Sougetsu initially approaches Yudias through his duties involving extraterrestrials, but their repeated encounters eventually place them among the same circle of allies.
