Takashi Otani

Otani is frightened and inexperienced but strongly protective of his family. He reacts to the mission as an ordinary parent rather than a hunter looking for points.

When a Raptor Alien pursues the family, Otani chooses to remain behind and confront it so his wife can escape with their child. The decision demonstrates courage despite his lack of preparation for combat.

His characterization is brief and almost entirely centered on his responsibilities as a husband and father.

Otani has no established supernatural abilities or specialized combat training.

As a Gantz participant, he can use the equipment provided by the black sphere, but he does not display the technical proficiency of experienced hunters.

When forced into close combat with a Raptor Alien, he relies primarily on physical resistance and desperation rather than a developed Gantz fighting style.

Otani enters the Dinosaur Alien mission with his wife and son after the family is caught among the victims who are subsequently reconstructed in the Gantz room.

During the hunt, a Raptor Alien pursues the family. Otani orders his wife to take their child and run while he stays behind to prevent the creature from reaching them.
