Takaaki Morofushi

Takaaki is calm, intelligent, eloquent, and highly cultured. He frequently quotes Chinese classics and historical texts, particularly works associated with military strategy, applying old sayings to modern investigations.

His refined manner contrasts with Kansuke's aggressive personality, but Takaaki is no less competitive. The two regularly race to solve cases and trade verbal barbs while remaining close friends.

Takaaki's loyalty can override his normally disciplined approach. When Kansuke disappeared in the mountains, Takaaki defied orders to pursue the suspect and search for him, accepting professional punishment afterward.

Takaaki is an exceptional detective capable of independently solving complex locked-room murders, coded messages, and carefully staged crime scenes. His broad knowledge of history and literature frequently helps him recognize references other investigators miss.

He is observant enough to follow Conan's reasoning and understands that the apparent elementary-school student possesses abilities far beyond his age.

Takaaki also demonstrates strong tactical judgment in dangerous situations. His intelligence is not limited to theoretical deduction; he can rapidly apply conclusions while coordinating police action.

Takaaki is introduced during the Red Wall case, where his investigation intersects with Kansuke, Yui, Conan, and the Mouri group. His intelligence immediately establishes him as another detective capable of progressing through a case without simply waiting for Conan's solution.

His earlier demotion is connected to Kansuke's avalanche disappearance. After abandoning his assigned duties to locate his friend and pursue the responsible suspect, Takaaki is reassigned before eventually returning to a prominent role within the Nagano police.

His family history later connects the Nagano cast directly to the larger conflict surrounding the Black Organization: Takaaki is the older brother of Hiromitsu Morofushi, the Public Security officer who infiltrated the Organization under the codename Scotch.

Kansuke Yamato is Takaaki's longtime friend and investigative rival. When Kansuke Yamato disappears after an avalanche, Takaaki disobeys orders to search for him.

Rei Furuya was closely connected to Takaaki's younger brother. Their shared connection through Hiromitsu becomes important once Takaaki begins understanding the circumstances surrounding his brother's life as an undercover officer.
