Souichirou Hague

Hague is an experienced leader who places enormous importance on the responsibilities of firefighters. His teachings emphasize survival: a rescuer who dies cannot continue saving other people, making self-preservation part of a Fire Soldier's duty rather than cowardice.

His encounter with Adolla changes him dramatically. Hague becomes fascinated with pain and danger because extreme physical experiences remind him of the sensation accompanying his Adolla Link. This produces a masochistic streak that can be deeply unsettling to those meeting him for the first time.

Despite this eccentricity, his subordinates respect him. Hague remains capable of sober judgment and possesses decades of knowledge about firefighting, the Special Fire Force and unusual combustion phenomena.

Hague is not established as a pyrokinetic. He instead relies on extensive firefighting experience, physical conditioning and conventional equipment.

He is skilled with tools such as axes and safety lines, using equipment designed for rescue as effective combat implements when necessary. His experience allows him to restrain and engage opponents without an Ignition Ability.

Hague's most unusual experience is his Adolla Link. During a past disaster, he made contact with Adolla and emerged with both his facial scars and an obsessive desire to experience that sensation again.

Hague serves as Company 4's captain and as an important figure in the training infrastructure of the Special Fire Force. Pan Ko Paat, one of Company 4's senior officers and academy instructors, reflects the values Hague instills in his personnel.

When Shinra begins investigating Adolla Links, Hague becomes a valuable source because he has personally experienced one. His account provides evidence that Adolla affects people beyond those who themselves possess an Adolla Burst.

Hague also has historical ties to Asakusa. He helped bring Benimaru Shinmon and Konro Sagamiya's firefighting group into the formal Special Fire Force structure, contributing to the creation of Company 7.

Because of his knowledge of Adolla, Hague is targeted by the White-Clad's Destroyers. Gold assassinates him in his office, and Shinra perceives the event through an Adolla Link.

Asako Hague is Souichirou's granddaughter and serves in Company 6, extending the Hague family's connection to another Special Fire Force brigade.

Pan Ko Paat is Hague's subordinate in Company 4. Hague's philosophy about firefighters surviving so that they can continue saving others strongly influences Pan's approach to training younger Fire Soldiers.

Shinra Kusakabe seeks Hague because of his previous Adolla Link. Hague's eagerness to experience Adolla again makes their meeting considerably stranger than Shinra expects.

Benimaru Shinmon and Konro Sagamiya know Hague through his involvement in bringing Asakusa's firefighters into the Special Fire Force as Company 7.

Gold targets Hague because of his connection to Adolla and assassinates him on behalf of the White-Clad.
