Sonia

Sonia is energetic, imaginative and almost unnervingly fearless. Events that horrify ordinary soldiers excite her curiosity, and she accepts the supernatural composition of Griffith's army with remarkable ease.

She interprets people through elaborate personal metaphors, assigning roles such as birds, ducks and other creatures according to how she perceives them. This gives her speech a childish quality while also reflecting the unusual way her psychic senses process other minds.

Her devotion to Griffith borders on worship. Sonia sees herself as someone uniquely capable of understanding him and consequently becomes jealous of Charlotte's position beside him.

Sonia is naturally clairvoyant and telepathically sensitive. She can perceive thoughts and emotions, communicate mentally and sense phenomena beyond ordinary sight.

Her powers become particularly effective around Griffith. During military operations, she functions as a psychic communications network, relaying information among widely separated units and coordinating human and Apostle soldiers.

Sonia can also enter or perceive astral experiences inaccessible to ordinary people. Her abilities make her unusually compatible with the transformed world surrounding Griffith.

Sonia enters the reborn Band of the Hawk after Griffith's forces rescue captives held by the Kushan army. She rapidly becomes one of the most recognizable human members of his new force.

In Vritannis, Sonia encounters Schierke. The two girls quickly connect because both can perceive the supernatural world, despite serving groups moving along very different paths.

During the campaign against the Kushan Empire, Sonia uses her psychic abilities to coordinate Griffith's mixed human and Apostle forces. Her complete confidence in the War Demons also helps ordinary soldiers overcome their fear of fighting beside them.

During the confrontation with Ganishka, Sonia rides Irvine's transformed body and helps direct the assault. After Falconia's establishment, she remains close to Griffith and plays an increasingly prominent ceremonial role within the new society.

Griffith is the center of Sonia's devotion. She regards him with near-religious adoration and believes herself especially attuned to his presence.

Mule Wolflame is Sonia's frequent companion and reluctant guardian. She nicknames him according to her fanciful imagery and routinely drags him into situations he considers reckless.

Irvine shares a quiet friendship with Sonia. She visits his isolated camp, listens to his music and later rides him during battle.

Schierke forms an immediate connection with Sonia when they meet in Vritannis. Their shared supernatural sensitivity allows them to understand one another despite their different allegiances.

Charlotte is Griffith's beloved princess and therefore a source of jealousy for Sonia.
