Sarah is cold, pragmatic and thoroughly committed to Grace Field's hierarchy. She measures caretakers according to their ability to produce valuable children and has little patience for personal attachments that interfere with the farm's objectives.

She is skilled at manipulating the competition between women beneath her. Rather than treating Sisters and Mamas as a family, she encourages a system in which survival depends on usefulness and advancement.

Her relationship with Isabella illustrates this clearly. Sarah recognizes Isabella's extraordinary ability and cultivates it, but regards her as a valuable pawn rather than a daughter.

Sarah possesses no supernatural powers. Her authority comes from her position as Grace Field's Grandma, the highest rank available to human staff at the premium farm.

She supervises Mamas and Sisters, evaluates candidates for promotion and communicates with the demons overseeing Grace Field. Her position allows her to decide the futures of women beneath her within the caretaker hierarchy.

Like other caretakers, she has extensive knowledge of Grace Field's security and tracking systems.

Sarah first appears as the distant authority above Isabella and Krone. She evaluates Plant 3 through reports rather than participating directly in the children's daily lives.

Her history stretches back decades. Sarah was once a Grace Field child herself, became a caretaker after reaching shipment age and later served as Isabella and Leslie's Mama. She eventually rose from Mama to Grandma.

When Krone attempts to use the children's escape plot to displace Isabella, Sarah chooses Isabella as the more valuable caretaker and arranges Krone's elimination.

Following the mass escape from Plant 3, the farm authorities hold Sarah responsible for failing to supervise Isabella. She is removed, and Isabella is promoted to replace her as Grandma.

Isabella was raised under Sarah and later becomes her most valuable subordinate. Sarah sees her primarily as an exceptional asset.

Krone seeks Sarah's approval to become a Mama, but Sarah ultimately considers her less valuable than Isabella and arranges her death.

Leslie was another child raised in Sarah's plantation during Isabella's childhood.

Peter Ratri occupies a still higher position within the system Sarah administers on behalf of the farms.
