Personality
Personality
Sham is sly, mocking and opportunistic. He initially pretends to be frightened of Zoro, luring the swordsman into lowering his guard before stealing two of his blades.
His confidence depends heavily on controlling the terms of a fight. Once Zoro recovers his swords and demonstrates superior ability, Sham’s taunting gives way to fear.
Sham works closely with Buchi but is willing to blame or abandon him under pressure. Their partnership combines Sham’s speed and deception with Buchi’s weight and strength.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Sham fights with clawed gloves modeled after a cat’s paws. His quick movements and flexible body allow him to evade attacks, close distance rapidly and steal weapons from an opponent.
His Cat-Astrophe technique is performed with Buchi as a coordinated claw assault. The brothers attack from alternating directions, using their contrasting builds to complicate an opponent’s defense.
Sham is strong enough to pressure Zoro while the swordsman has only one blade. Once Zoro regains all three swords, the difference in ability becomes decisive.
The Nyaban Brothers share a recorded bounty of 7,000,000 berries for the pair rather than holding separately established bounties of that amount. Neither brother has a confirmed Devil Fruit or Haki.
Story Role
Story Role
Sham arrives with the Black Cat Pirates at the wrong side of Syrup Village because Jango misremembers Kuro’s instructions. After reaching the correct slope, the crew confronts Luffy, Zoro, Nami and Usopp.
Sham and Buchi are ordered to attack Zoro. Sham feigns weakness, steals two swords and forces Zoro to defend himself with a single blade while the brothers coordinate their assault.
Nami risks injury to recover Zoro’s weapons, allowing him to use his full Three-Sword Style. Zoro defeats both brothers, though Jango later hypnotizes Buchi back into fighting condition.
Sham survives the battle. The manga does not establish a later return or clarify his activities after the Black Cat Pirates retreat from Syrup Village.
Relationships
Relationships
Buchi is Sham’s partner in the Nyaban Brothers. Their fighting styles complement one another, although Sham’s loyalty weakens when Kuro threatens them.
Kuro is Sham’s former captain and the person the brothers fear most. Jango leads the crew in Kuro’s absence and directs their attack on Syrup Village.
Roronoa Zoro is Sham’s principal opponent. Sham briefly gains an advantage by stealing his swords, but Zoro defeats him after recovering them.
Nami helps reverse Sham’s advantage by returning the stolen weapons to Zoro.
