Ruby

Ruby is friendly, excitable and conspicuously wealthy, with a strong enthusiasm for valuable and unusual objects. He is initially naive enough to be manipulated financially, and his tendency to speak without thinking becomes a recurring problem: plans intended to remain secret have a habit of becoming considerably less secret once Ruby knows about them.

For all his comic behavior, Ruby has a strong moral conscience. Learning that Doryu has been using his resources for destructive purposes horrifies him, and his gratitude toward Haru Glory helps turn him from an isolated casino owner into a committed traveling companion. He may frighten easily, but fear rarely prevents him from helping when his friends are in genuine danger.

Ruby's most important weapon is the Holy Bell, a keepsake inherited from his father. The bell once belonged to Dalmatian, one of the Knights of the Blue Sky, and can transform into a magical sword. Ruby possesses an affinity for wind-based magic and receives instruction that allows him to use the weapon's magical properties more effectively.

His abilities include Magic Reflection, which redirects magical attacks, and wind techniques such as Twister. The Holy Bell also provides utility beyond straightforward offense, making Ruby increasingly useful despite lacking the raw physical strength of the group's principal fighters.

Ruby enters the story as the owner of Edel Lake, a floating casino, and has unknowingly provided financial support to Doryu. After discovering Doryu's true nature and nearly being killed for turning against him, Ruby is rescued by Haru and joins the Rave Warriors.

His role subsequently expands beyond comic relief. Ruby travels with the group, becomes involved in their major conflicts and develops from a sheltered proprietor into a capable magical supporter. His connection to the Holy Bell brings him into contact with Dalmatian, who recognizes his magical potential and teaches him to use wind magic. Ruby also possesses unusual knowledge concerning the succession of the Rave Master, making him more informed about the Rave's future than his appearance initially suggests.

Haru Glory becomes one of Ruby's most important allies after saving him from Doryu. Ruby responds with loyalty and joins Haru's wider group rather than returning to the detached life of a wealthy casino owner.

Pearl, Ruby's father, leaves him both his fortune and the Holy Bell. The bell becomes Ruby's most important personal possession and eventually the foundation of his magical fighting style.

Doryu exploits Ruby's wealth without Ruby initially understanding what his money is financing. Discovering the truth destroys their association and places Ruby firmly against him.

Dalmatian is the Holy Bell's former wielder and later helps Ruby understand its true nature and his own affinity for magic. Ruby also develops close bonds with the wider Rave Warriors, including Elie, Hamrio Musica, Let Dahaka, Plue and Griffon Kato.
