Rosine

Rosine is imaginative, rebellious and deeply shaped by childhood abuse. She longs for a world free from adults and their cruelty, drawing inspiration from the story of Peekaf and from her belief that elves offer an escape from ordinary human suffering.

After becoming an Apostle, that longing becomes dangerously distorted. She recreates childhood games with real violence, viewing the deaths of her pseudo-Apostle followers with a detachment that horrifies Jill.

Rosine nevertheless retains genuine affection for Jill. She wants her old friend beside her and tries to persuade rather than simply force her to join the Misty Valley's inhabitants.

Rosine's Apostle abilities revolve around flight, extreme speed and the creation of pseudo-Apostles. Her humanoid form resembles an elf with moth-like wings and antennae.

She uses cocoons to transform abducted human children into insect-like pseudo-Apostles. These creatures can attack in swarms and appear sufficiently similar to elves that ordinary villagers misidentify them.

Rosine's full Apostle form resembles a gigantic moth. She can accelerate to tremendous speeds in aerial attacks, generating powerful impacts while remaining extremely difficult to strike.

Rosine is briefly seen around the events of the Eclipse before becoming the central Apostle of the Lost Children Chapter. Her pseudo-Apostles terrorize a village near Misty Valley, killing inhabitants and carrying away children.

Jill recognizes Rosine as her missing childhood friend. Rosine takes her into Misty Valley and offers to transform her into an elf, presenting the valley as a refuge from abusive adults.

Jill rejects the offer after witnessing the grotesque violence of Rosine's "elves." Guts destroys the cocoons and burns much of Misty Valley before engaging Rosine in a brutal battle.

Although Rosine's speed and Apostle form badly injure Guts, he eventually defeats her. Jill prevents him from delivering an immediate finishing blow, and Rosine flees while remembering the true lesson of Peekaf's story before succumbing to her wounds.

Jill is Rosine's childhood friend and the person she most wants to bring into her imagined paradise. Jill refuses transformation but still protects Rosine from Guts at the end of their battle.

Guts hunts Rosine after recognizing the Misty Valley's supposed elves as demonic creatures.

Puck, a genuine elf, exposes the contrast between Rosine's fantasy of elven existence and the supernatural reality she has imitated.

Rosine's Father and Rosine's Mother are sacrificed when Rosine uses her beherit to become an Apostle.
