Reiko Akiba

Reiko is stern, direct, and perfectionistic. She does not soften criticism simply because she is speaking to children, immediately identifying problems in the Detective Boys' singing and expecting them to improve.

Her severity is balanced by genuine kindness. Reiko takes danger seriously when other people may be harmed and proves willing to protect the children even when doing so places her at greater personal risk.

Music is central to her life, but she is not emotionally detached from it. Her experiences with loss and the people surrounding Domoto's musical circle give performances such as "Amazing Grace" personal significance beyond technical perfection.

Reiko is an accomplished soprano with exceptional vocal control and absolute pitch. She can identify exact notes by ear and recognize minute deviations in tuning.

Her trained voice becomes useful outside conventional performance. Reiko and Conan can use precisely controlled vocal frequencies to interact with a telephone system after being trapped away from the concert hall.

Reiko performs works including "Ave Maria" and "Amazing Grace." Her abilities remain entirely human, relying on musical training, breath control, and her naturally exceptional ear.

Reiko becomes involved with Conan and the Detective Boys while helping Teitan Elementary School students rehearse their anthem. Shortly afterward, incidents begin targeting people connected to the forthcoming Domoto Hall opening concert.

Conan accompanies Reiko while investigating the attacks and discovers that her perfect pitch makes her particularly significant to the case.

The attacks are connected to the death of Reiko's fiancé, Hikaru Soma, several years earlier. The musicians being targeted had contributed indirectly to the circumstances that led to his death, while the perpetrator, Takumi Fuwa, is revealed to be Hikaru's father.

Reiko and Conan are deliberately removed from Domoto Hall because their perfect pitch could expose the mechanism behind Fuwa's bombing plan. Their musical abilities ultimately help them escape isolation and return to the investigation.

Hikaru Soma was Reiko's fiancé. His death years before the Domoto Hall case provides the personal connection between Reiko and the sequence of attacks.

Conan Edogawa shares Reiko's absolute pitch despite being a poor singer. The two cooperate closely after becoming targets of the same plot.

Ayumi Yoshida, Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, Genta Kojima, and Ai Haibara receive singing instruction from Reiko as members of the Teitan Elementary group.

Takumi Fuwa is connected to Reiko through the Domoto musical circle. He is Hikaru's father and the perpetrator behind the attacks surrounding the concert.

Kazuki Domoto is the prominent musician whose new concert hall provides the setting for Reiko's performance and the central case.
