Rei Takashima

Takashima initially appears composed, professional and mildly sympathetic toward patients. That bedside manner quickly proves unreliable once the subject turns to Deadmen and human experimentation.

She is sadistic and fascinated by anatomy, responding enthusiastically to opportunities to obtain or study body parts. The grotesque medical practices of G Ward do not disturb her; they are part of what attracts her to the work.

Takashima has no Branch of Sin and is not established as a combatant. Her expertise is medical, giving her the knowledge required to perform surgery and other procedures on prisoners.

She participates in the machinery surrounding Carnival Corpse penalty games, where selected organs or body parts are surgically removed from defeated Deadmen for research.

Takashima first appears as a prison doctor and becomes one of the staff members through whom Ganta encounters the institutional cruelty of Deadman Wonderland.

Her work is particularly associated with G Ward and the medical aftermath of Carnival Corpse. After Senji loses to Ganta, Takashima participates in the procedure in which his right eye is removed as his penalty.

She later becomes involved with Tamaki's artificial Deadman research and the Forgeries. Her willingness to experiment on human subjects makes her a natural participant in the project.

Ganta Igarashi encounters Takashima through Deadman Wonderland's medical system.

Kiyomasa Senji becomes one of the Deadmen subjected to a penalty procedure overseen by Takashima after losing Carnival Corpse.

Tsunenaga Tamaki oversees the experimental programs with which Takashima becomes involved.
