Onigiri

Onigiri is loud, shameless and intensely driven by his attraction to girls. His voyeuristic behavior is a recurring source of trouble, and even his peculiar method of riding Air Trecks is partly designed around looking beneath girls' skirts. He rarely displays the conventional coolness associated with elite Storm Riders and is frequently insulted or dismissed because of his appearance and behavior.

That surface impression hides considerable loyalty and stubbornness. Onigiri follows Ikki into increasingly dangerous Parts Wars and refuses to remain merely a spectator while his friends improve. When genuinely pushed, he can withstand punishment and confront opponents who appear overwhelmingly superior to him. His victories tend to come from exploiting the very qualities other riders regard as ridiculous or disgusting.

Onigiri created the Smell Road, an unconventional Road based primarily on his extreme perspiration. His sweat and its odor can interfere with an opponent's senses after exposure, producing effects that include hallucinations and distorted perceptions. Sweat spread across a riding surface can also reduce traction, turning the terrain itself into a hazard.

His riding posture is equally unusual. Rather than standing normally on two Air Trecks, he can ride upside down on a single A-T, balancing with his head close to the ground while his legs remain free. The posture is dangerous but allows him to attack with his legs and approach situations from angles that conventional riders rarely anticipate. During Kogarasumaru's confrontation with Behemoth, this bizarre perspective proves particularly useful against Ryo Mimasaka, whose tattoo-based visual hypnosis is disrupted when Onigiri views the design upside down.

Onigiri's greatest limitation is that the Smell Road is closely connected to the emotional and physical state that causes his excessive sweating. Later battles show that he can push the Road much further than its initially comic presentation suggests, producing sensory effects powerful enough to threaten exceptionally capable opponents.

Onigiri begins as part of Ikki's pre-A-T circle and becomes one of the original members of Kogarasumaru. Unlike the team's natural prodigies, he develops through an eccentric specialty entirely his own. This makes him an important example of how a Storm Rider's Road can emerge from personal characteristics rather than adherence to one of the established major Roads.

His battle against Ryo Mimasaka during the Behemoth conflict gives him one of his first major individual victories. The match turns what normally appears to be a joke—his upside-down riding style—into a genuine tactical advantage.

During the Gram Scale Tournament, Onigiri continues to contribute through terrain control and his Smell Road rather than conventional speed or power. His abilities become sufficiently developed that opponents who would ordinarily dismiss him have to regard him as a genuine threat.

Itsuki Minami is Onigiri's childhood friend and the person he follows into the Storm Rider world. Onigiri frequently participates in Ikki's crude antics, but their friendship also gives him a strong reason to remain with Kogarasumaru as its battles become increasingly serious.

Kazuma Mikura is another longtime friend and fellow founding member of Kogarasumaru. The three begin the series as an established group before Air Trecks transform their ordinary school lives into competition among Storm Riders.

Issa Mihotoke and Agito Wanijima become teammates as Kogarasumaru expands. Their vastly different fighting styles give the team capabilities that Onigiri lacks, while his Smell Road supplies an unconventional form of interference that none of them can easily reproduce.
