Personality
Personality
Obaa-san is practical and accustomed to caring for the people around her. In a community dominated by frightened young survivors and improvised military preparations, cooking and maintaining everyday routine become meaningful responsibilities.
She is also tougher than her caretaker role initially suggests. Obaa-san does not treat age as a reason to remain completely dependent on the younger residents when the hideout is threatened.
The manga gives little detail about her life before the outbreak, keeping her characterization centered on her place within the survivor community.
Abilities & Powers
Abilities & Powers
Obaa-san's principal everyday skill is cooking for the hideout's residents. Reliable food preparation is particularly important once ordinary utilities, restaurants and supply chains have disappeared.
She can also defend herself in combat. The manga does not establish a formal martial art or anomalous ZQN-related power for her, so her fighting ability remains grounded in ordinary human capability.
Her combination of caretaking and combat readiness makes her useful both during periods of relative calm and during attacks.
Story Role
Story Role
Obaa-san is introduced when Takashi reaches the Kurusu-group base. Alongside Tomabechi, Haruki and Kizuki, she helps reveal that the internet movement has become an actual community with divided responsibilities.
While Kowashi teaches combat and Tomabechi handles weapons and research, Obaa-san provides food and everyday support.
When the security of the hideout deteriorates, the distinction between fighters and non-fighters becomes increasingly difficult to maintain, and Obaa-san is capable of defending herself when necessary.
