Nobukatsu Tomonari

Tomonari is dedicated to police work and reluctant to allow his own condition to interfere with an investigation. His determination becomes apparent during the stakeout connected to the Jinno case.

He also appears concerned about preventing his subordinates from abandoning their duties for his sake, even when he personally requires assistance.

Tomonari is an experienced police investigator and team leader. As chief inspector, he coordinates officers during the inquiry into Jinno's suspicious death.

His role requires knowledge of surveillance, suspect investigation, evidence management, and the command of subordinate detectives.

Tomonari leads the original investigation into Jinno's apparent suicide. His team conducts surveillance after evidence raises questions about the official explanation for the surgeon's death.

During a stakeout, Tomonari suffers a heart attack. He tells the other officers to continue the operation, while Satou remains with him. He dies before the investigation can be completed, and the Jinno case is subsequently closed as a suicide.

When Narasawa and Shiba are murdered and Satou is attacked, the circumstances surrounding Tomonari's old investigation become central to identifying why those particular police officers were targeted.
